We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant CMA to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments at our Coast Guard medical clinic to keep the medical facility running smoothly
- Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner
- Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
- Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
- Escort patients to exam rooms
A. A certificate or Associate degree as a CMA/MA from a state accredited program and 12 months experience with in the preceding 36 months, or,
B. Certification from a military medical assistant (i.e. Health Service Technician, Hospital Corpsman) ''A'' school and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months, or,
C. 36 months experience within the preceding 60 months as a medical assistant in a private practice and completed the requirements for certification. The National Commission for Certifying Agencies, part of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence, accredits four certifications for medical assistants:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants
(AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association
D. Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
