Equipment Engineer

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Four year degree (BSME or BSEE preferred)
  • US person as define by ITAR
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in equipment design/redesign
  • (Primarily in small component fabrication)
  • Must be able to read and interpret electronic schematics
  • Must be able to troubleshoot electronics to the component level

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand conventional blueprints and work from engineering sketches and verbal instruction
  • Must know working qualities of various metals, plastics and alloys, particularly stainless steel, tool steels, low carbon steels, aluminum and various grades of plastic
  • Familiarity with major types of sensors and pattern/visual recognition systems is required
  • Ability to use hand tools as required for the job
  • Ability to wear clean room and/or safety gear as required
  • Ability to interface effectively with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with team members and management
  • Observant and highly motivated towards upholding quality and safety goals
  • Ability to write PLC programs and troubleshoot existing programs a plus
  • Auto Cad experience a plus
  • Vacuum system and/or Laser experience a plus

Job Requirements / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design/automation of small subsystems and individual pieces of equipment for the handling of small to micro components, principally from a mechanical point of view rather than electronic perspective
  • Contribute to improved productivity and reliability through the redesign and upgrade of mechanical devices and equipment
  • Interface with internal functions and external suppliers
  • Produce jigs, fixtures, tools and other equipment, most of which could be classified as prototype or experimental in nature
  • Plan and perform machining work on a variety of parts, tools, and fixtures
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Respond to equipment issues related to areas of responsibility
  • Complete manufacturing improvement projects as assigned
  • Prepare technical reports


SAFETY/ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • May be required to work with or in proximity to hazardous materials throughout the facility
  • Work environment may be indoor or outdoor and may include exposures to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, solvents, chemicals, gases, electrical currents and humidity and temperature conditions (clean room)
  • May occasionally be required to use respirator while working
  • Attend Hazard Communication and Injury and Illness Prevention Program training and periodic update sessions as scheduled. Communicate the importance of compliance with these programs to quality department members, verbally and by example
  • Know and follow company safety procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have vision adequate to see in the normal visual range, with or without correction
  • Must hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, reach overhead, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight (occasionally up to 50 lbs.)
  • Must be able to safely operate assigned equipment and to verbally communicate to exchange information
  • Must be able to move from building to building
  • Must be able to work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including possibly slippery or uneven surfaces (interior and/or exterior)
