WDVA operates four veterans' homes in Port Orchard, Orting, Spokane, and Walla Walla providing Medicare and Medicaid nursing care for honorably discharged veterans, to include, in some instances, their spouses, widows or gold star parents.

 "Serving those who Served" this LPN 4 position, under the supervision of the Shift nursing supervisor - RN 3, assists in the delivery of nursing and nursing related care to residents of the Washington Soldiers Home.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepares, carries out, evaluates, and revises treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and/or other nurses.

Updates and maintains MDS documentation in accordance with regulations and under the direction of the MDS coordinator.

Passes medications, administers, monitors and records treatments, assesses resident condition, including skin assessment and promotes resident participation in recreational activities.Required Qualifications:

Current and valid Washington State License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Two (2) years' experience  as a LPN.  

Capable  of lifting up to 60 lbs. frequently using proper  techniques.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of fulltime experience in a nursing home.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.  Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
 
Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test.
 Required Qualifications: 
Must have excellent listening skills and be able to work productively with staff and residents from diverse backgrounds.

Must be able to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards.

Physical ability to do required work.

Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and caring for floors, walls fixtures and furniture, safety practices and procedures for handling toxic materials.

Knowledge of aseptic procedures and infection control as related to custodial services.

Ability to:
Adopt work procedures to meet changing needs.
Inspect and evaluate custodial work for cleanliness, aseptic cleanliness, and neatness.
Understand and apply rules and written and oral directions.
Read and understand written instructions, directions and procedures.
Make simple arithmetic calculations.
Interact effectively with others.
Follow safety policies, procedures and practices.
Operate floor care machines.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of fulltime experience in large scale housekeeping, janitorial, building maintenance or custodial work in a healthcare facility, hospital or nursing home.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
