# Job Summary
This position provides high level administrative support to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) executive staff in the Commissioner's Office. The incumbent will communicate on many levels with agency staff, the Governor's Office, legislative staff, various external stakeholders and partners, and the general public.
Responsibilities include: Scheduling meetings; developing itineraries; making travel arrangements; originating purchase orders; preparing reports and special projects as assigned. This person works in a highly confidential and sensitive environment and accordingly ensures the timely communication and workflow in the department's executive offices. This person must possess a high level of confidentiality and trust as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Typing (65 WPM) and word-processing, proofing and formatting skills sufficient to carry out advanced administrative tasks and produce accurate technical documents, letters, memos, and reports.
Data entry/database management skills sufficient to accurately enter data, maintain database, and retrieve information.
English skills (reading, speaking, and writing) sufficient to respond to customers and compose and edit a variety of documents using proper business English, spelling and grammar.
Spreadsheet skills (i.e. Excel) sufficient to organization data, create and modify spreadsheets and provide management with accurate and meaningful information.
Customer service skills sufficient to provide courteous, effective, and timely service to clients/customers and to resolve administrative problems with internal staff, staff from other government agencies and with the public.
Accounting/budgeting/expense skills sufficient to process employee expense reports, reimbursements and purchase order requisitions.
Scheduling and organizing meetings and spaces.
Professional and respectful demeanor in all interactions.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
Three years of executive assistant supporting senior level position.
Working knowledge of modern office procedures and practices.
Must successfully pass a background check
