Job Summary and Mission
Starbucks is seeking a highly motivated accountant I to join the corporate accounting team. The Corporate Accounting team's main functions are in the areas of treasury activities, compensation and benefits, G&A expenses and quarterly SEC filing footnote disclosures. More specifically, we support the following subject matters: stock-based compensation, investments, derivatives, corporate bank activities, self-insurance reserves, goodwill, consolidated balance sheet analysis and accounting support for the Starbucks Foundation. This position, with oversight, is integral to Starbucks success by ensuring the accurate and timely completion of moderately complex accounting functions, supporting key internal controls, maintaining one or a combination of accounting, budget or cost systems and preparing financial reports and analyses. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles and values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Maintains accounting records. Prepares accurate journal entries and account reconciliations that are compliant with company policies and applicable accounting principles with supervision. Provides information for the production of financial statements.
Assists in maintaining various systems and processes in area of responsibility. Supports implementation of process improvements as outlined by management. Provides feedback regarding implementation requirements.
With guidance, prepares accurate and timely reports for assigned business unit(s) or department(s) to support company accounting, reporting and forecasting cycles.
Researches and provides timely, accurate and complete responses to routine questions from customers.
Highlights issues to management based on results of analysis.
Participates in and provides support to cross-functional teams. Conducts analyses as needed to support project objectives. Participates in other projects and assignments as needed to support the goals of the department.
Summary of Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- Experience or aptitude to work with business intelligence and reporting tools.
- CPA candidate preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills.

- Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
