Job Description
Job Title: Printer Operator 1          
PositionSummary

Responsible for operating printers to produce tags, labelsand reports ensuring print quality standards are maintained and productiondeadlines are met.  Maintain printers inproper working order and perform daily preventative maintenance tasks forprinters. Troubleshoots printers’ issues to resume processing. Escalate issueswhich can’t be resolved to the service vendor in a timely manner to endurethere are no impacts to production. Assist technical staff with the printer’s peripheralequipment as required. Assists programmers and systems analysts in running jobs.

Responsibilities

Work assignments are typically routine and non-complexin nature and follow established policies and procedures.  Receive some instruction in completingroutine assignments and may receive more detailed instructions for new or morecomplex assignments. Routine work may be reviewed through spot checking oroccasionally as an end product; new or more complex assignments are reviewed aseach task is completed. Ability to determine how work is completed withinparameters of following established processes and procedures.

§  Operatesand monitors peripheral equipment such as printers in accordance withestablished quality standards; organizes operations output for distribution,including large print jobs.

§  Maintainsproduction deadlines and standards.

§  Performsroutine maintenance on computer hardware following established maintenanceschedules and procedures.

§  Informsshift supervisor, production control and/or programmers of errors or problems.

§  Assistsusers in person, by telephone and through e-mail with basic computer operationsproblems or questions.

§  Monitorscomputer room environment and security.

§  Documentsprocedures and logs tasks performed complete shift turnover logs.

§  Performsother related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

JobKnowledge & Skills

HS diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of relevantadministrative/operational support in manufacturing operations or officeenvironment directly related to the duties of the job, or demonstrated abilityto meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of workexperience.

Requires good knowledge of general/standardadministrative/manufacturing operations procedures and methods to successfullycomplete the duties of the job. Must have general knowledge of technology toinclude computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC wordprocessing, spreadsheets or other programs related to the print manufacturingprocess or administrative support.  Mustbe familiar with applicable skills and procedures required to perform theduties listed in the job.  Must have goodoral and written communication skills sufficient to provide routineinformation, answer inquiries and/or refer calls. 

Requires good organizational skills, attention todetail and ability to solve problems related to duties of the job. Must be ableto work well as part of a team or independently.

Preferred: 

Previous data center printer operator experiencepreferred.
