Job Description

 

SUMMARY

The Quilting Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of 1 to 3 quilting machines.  The quilting Machine Operator is responsible for the quality of the product manufactured on all the quilting machines the operator is running.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The safe and productive operation of quilting machines.

Read Machine Board to find which machine is assigned to you.

Read Job Operations Listing and Bolt Ticket to ensure the quilting machine is properly set up

Record beginning meter reading on Meter Card and run machine.

Continuously check material for wrinkles, pleats, raw edges, skipped stitches, broken or missing threads, loose thread, missing components etc. 

Shut machine off when flaws are found.  Repair flaw and start machine.  Place marker at end point of repair.

If flaw cannot be fixed, turn on red light and do not start machine until it has been properly repaired.

As machines are running refill shuttles with new bobbins while keeping an eye on product quality.

Continuously check thread and replace spools of thread as they run out.

When roll has reached it proper length, shut machine off, remove roll, start new roll.  Change out shuttles if required. 

Keep work area clean, pick up loose tubes, bags and fabric.

Follow all company safety rules and regulations.

Do not attempt to pick up heavy materials by yourself, observe two person lifting rule.

At the end of the shift remove trash from your area and take to garbage dumpster.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Stable work history, 3 years or more at one job.

Able to communicate with other employees.

Ability to understand simple instructions and perform basic math.

Good hand eye coordination and the ability to perform fine manipulation with hands.

Good eyesight.

The ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Good eyesight.

The ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

The ability to routinely lift and carry loads ranging from 20 to 50 pounds.

Ability to walk and stand on concrete floors for 8 to 10 hours per day.

Noise levels exceed 85 decibels.  Hearing protection is required.
