Job Description
Assistant Controller

Extremely detailed oriented, possess excellent leadership traits, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be highly organized. Have a strong technical accounting background and experience with working in a government contracting environment subject to CAS and FAR regulations.  The Assistant Controller works under the direction of the Corporate Controller to assist in directing the day to day operations of the Accounting Department.  Responsible for assisting with timely and accurate reporting of all financial data and for providing financial reports required by the company management and regulatory agencies.  The Assistant Controller will be responsible for ensuring the cost accounting standards and practices of the company are CAS and FAR compliant.  The Assistant Controller will also be a key participant in the implementation of a new CAS compliant accounting system and will help build processes and policies around the new system.

  • BS Accounting
  • 5-8 years related experience
  • FAR/CAS experience required
  • Experience with Costpoint

  • Collaborate with all levels of staff and management throughout the organization to accomplish the department mission.
  • Review monthly consolidated financial statements and related account analysis.
  • Assist in driving a timely monthly close process.
  • Optimizing the company's accounting functions.
  • Manage financial data and assurance of data integrity and accuracy.
  • Year-end close process and financial reporting, including assisting with preparation of the year end financial statements and footnote disclosures.
  • Coordinates audits by outside independent auditors and regulatory agencies; oversees the preparation of requested items.
  • Review certain monthly general ledger reconciliations
  • Compliance and deliverables with debt agreement related to accounting
  • Perform financial process control activities to ensure internal compliance.
  • Provide input for revenue recognition policy & partnership with the business to ensure compliance.
  • Partners with other areas of Finance, Operations, Engineering, Sales, HR, Legal, to provide leadership over certain accounting matters that aide in the organization performing at the highest level.
  • Act as key contributor/leader for an upcoming implementation of a new corporate accounting system (Cost Point).
  • Creates an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Overhead and rate analysis.
  • Perform other duties and assist in special projects as necessary.
  • Provide support to M&A due diligence & integration.
  • The ability to manage resources remotely given the geographic team structure.
  • Assure company compliance with Financial Accounting Standards, Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and disclosed Company practices.
