Bilingual Occupational Nurse

Job Description

The Occupational Nurse's priority is the prevention and treatment of stress, injuries or illnesses derived from the work environment. This is done by maintaining safe workplace conditions by educating workers on personal health issues and on company safety policies, providing care to preserve life and minimize the consequences of injury until medical treatment is obtained, and dispensing information on chronic diseases, nutrition, vaccinations, exercise, weight loss, and the dangers of smoking.

Position Duties

  • Evaluate employee’s injury and assume responsibility for all first aid treatment of an injured worker until responsibility for treatment is accepted at a place of medical treatment or by an ambulance service.
  • Follow up with injured employee until released to full duty.
  • Record signs and symptoms of injuries and exposures to contaminants.
  • Assist in completing accident reports.
  • Report injuries to worker’s compensation insurance company.
  • Record injuries on OSHA log.
  • Support worker safety by observing conditions and behaviors daily on production floor and reporting and addressing unsafe situations.
  • Maintains safe, secure and healthy environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps first aid supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conduct CPR training.
  • Administer drug tests, COVID-19 tests, and influenza tests.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation.
  • Provide on-going training on healthy living.

Skills Requirements

  • Ability to take charge and be responsible in a high stress situation and ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Physically and mentally capable of safely and effectively performing the required duties
  • Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • LPN Certification Required.
  • Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting required.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in Occupational Health and Worker’s Comp preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required.
  • Able to schedule flexible work hours.
  • Able to respond to second shift and weekend calls.
