Job Description

We have an outstanding for CFO for a nonprofit right in the heart of Phoenix.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) for a nonprofit with multiple funding sources, multi-state reporting requirements, a dispersed geographic structure, and diverse programming efforts. She or he will experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities:
● Direct all financial responsibilities, supervising the finance team.
● Manage financial systems, processes, and financial policies that support the organization’s mission, ensuring proper financial reporting, and financial information flow and management.
● Assist and coordinate with multiple State Directors in the preparation of individual program budgets.
● Work with outside auditors and lawyers to ensure proper reporting to regulatory agencies.
● Manage procurement processes and act as liaison with vendors, including oversight of consultant contracts.
● Act as a member of the senior leadership of the organization and play a significant role in the long-term Financial Planning & Analysis of organization.
● Responsible for overall financial processing, management, planning, systems, and control, including budget preparation and management of organizational budgets.
● Responsible for corporate governance policies and related documents.
● Provide guidance, support and financial information for fundraising activities

Desired Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Finance, CPA and/or MBA required.
● 10+ years experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
● Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting
● Deep knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A133 audit.
● Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and QuickBooks accounting software package
● Strong forecasting and budget development/oversight experience.
● Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives.
● Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style.
● Excellent organization and communication (written and oral) skills in both English and Spanish, as well as cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively with people representing diverse interests, styles and backgrounds.
● Ability to navigate high-stress situations with consummate professionalism, flexibility, and grace under pressure.
● Open to direction and collaborative work style, as well as a deadline-oriented work ethic.
● A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
