Responsible for direct oversight of the assigned shift, including providing direct supervision to staff, providing direction to volunteers and clients and providing immediate response to client situations.
A. Coordinating and scheduling for services, including but not limited to laundry, chores, meals, intakes and discharges, including emergency intakes
B. Ensures client participation in supportive services and activities
C. Provides direct supervision, training and monitoring to the Program Assistant staff for the assigned shift; and offers direction and guidance to Program Assistants with regard to conflict resolution strategies and crisis intervention as needed during work shift
D. Models Trauma Informed Care practices and ensures that staff is serving clients with dignity and respect
E. Ensure dorm checks are done during each shift worked
A. Collaborates with the Assistant Director and the case management staff in the monitoring and reporting of mental health crises, noncompliance, behavior concerns, and other client situations with recommendations for immediate and follow-up action
B. Promotes an atmosphere of cleanliness, safety, care, respect, and support among clients, volunteers and staff according to the core values for St. Vincent de Paul
C. In the absence of the Assistant Director, makes decisions regarding client discipline
D. Informs the management team of all significant events on the shift in a timely manner
E. Ensures all incident reports are written and submitted by the end of the shift
F. Ensures that there is adequate staff coverage on the shift each day
A. Assists with and attends special events held by the shelter and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary
B. Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul
C. Meets monthly with supervisor and attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed
D. Conducts routine face to face supervision of staff, no less than once a month in order to evaluate progress and provide further training and direction as needed
E. Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively
F. Other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.
A. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field is preferred
B. 2-3 years of supervisory experience is required
C. At least 3 years of experience working with persons who are materially poor and/or homeless, with a focus on families.
D. Experience in crisis intervention, behavior management, and/or conflict resolution.
E. Comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
F. An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
G. Good organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
H. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to facilitate reflective and educational discussion with individuals and groups.
I. Intermediate computer skills (email exchange, Microsoft software, etc.)
