Job Description

Functions & Responsibilities

· Supervise all staff, conducting regular performance reviews and goal setting sessions, with healthy two-way communications and feedback practices.

· Discern which meetings are essential and how to run them with clarity of purpose and accountability for the fruitful implementation of decisions made.

· Ensure volunteer standards, processes, and appreciation.

· Fulfill Safe Environment protocol, principally certification and background checks.

· Verify that all Sacraments are being recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

· Handle all employee onboarding, payroll, benefits, files, and guidelines.

· Comply with mandatory Diocese requirements for HR, financial matters, and records.

· Manage all accounting and bookkeeping tasks, especially payroll, vendors, insurance, staff expenditures, employee benefits and leave time, AR/AP, exempt tax property filing, and the diocesan AMD program.

· Prepare budgets and reports for the Pastor and the Parish Finance Council, as well as helping the Pastor lead the sessions, recording decisions and following up on action items.

· Establish a responsible cash flow management system through ParishSoft.

· Oversee the process for Parish Hall rentals and special events, including deanery meetings.

· Direct the operation and effective practices of the Parish Office, including front desk, supplies, orderliness, and cleanliness.

· Manage the upkeep of information and technology systems, including the parish database, along with the church website, social media, bulletin, and other external communications.

· Keep an accurate and up-to-date master calendar.

· Coordinates security measures with security team to protect property and personnel.

· Maintain inventory of church property, equipment, supplies, and record of purchases.

· Mediate for the Pastor with the people and steps in capital improvements, especially those requiring approval from the diocesan Finance Advisory Council.

· Investigate options for the feasibility of new initiatives like offering childcare during important activities.

· Serve as a member of the pastor’s senior leadership team.

Qualifications & Skills

· Holds at least a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, but preferably an MBA or other advanced certification, with work experience and skills suitable to the equivalent of successfully running a small business, which entails managing finances, supervising staff, executing on the services provided, and communicating with the customer base.

· Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills are vital, as well as the ability to function independently and professionally with various personnel, tasks, and timelines.

· Bilingual (English – Spanish) would be ideal.

· Proficiency with Catholic parish and diocesan financial management.

· Espouses a life of faith, worship & service, with a strong sense of personal vocation, which neither publicly nor obstinately contradicts the teachings of the Catholic Church.

· Knows how to capture and make actionable the leader’s vision and instructions with strategic planning and setting objectives for organizational health and mission success.

· Has the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for optimal results, discerning what needs to be done, when, how, and by whom; with an effective process of consultation, decision-making, and communicating to the affected parties at each critical step, plus galvanizing action and providing accountability.

· Inspires a culture based on teamwork, achieving outcomes, and mutual appreciation.

· Promotes good customer service towards all who register requests or complaints.

· Understands that a budget and financial plan should match the purpose and vision.

· Demonstrates crucial conversation skills and the ability to resolve disputes swiftly.

· Organizes time and procedures to carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Nurtures good working relationships with personnel and stakeholders.

· Guards confidentiality in all areas.

· Models a healthy work-life balance as a good example to others.

· Values having the right people, in the right positions, doing the right things.

Company Description
St. Mary’s Catholic Church is a parish on the Western Slope of Colorado with approximately 1,500 registered households total, belonging to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pueblo, and includes a mission in the town of Olathe, around 10 miles to the north. There is one pastor, two deacons, and a small staff. This community of faith is half English-speaking Catholics and half Spanish-speaking Catholics, of all ages.
