Sport Durst Automotive Group of Durham is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual, with leadership skills and a drive to succeed.  This key position supports all levels of accounting functions and provides sales and expense analysis for all departments.

The Controller will work closely with the management team and other departments to help ensure productive operations, which will maximize the success of each franchise. Candidates should possess the ability to build a healthy work relationships with accounting associates and have the skill set to motivate staff to ensure that performance expectations are always met or exceeded.  Candidates must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain business relations with other management staff, customers, third party and external vendors.

Essential Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Develops controls necessary for the proper conduct of business and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to interact daily with accounting staff, sales staff, service/parts staff and all other support staff in a "Positive Manner"
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever growing environment
  • Works with integrity and ethically and upholds company/organization values.
  • Prepare complete financial statements and submit to the manufacture and management in accordance with established time frames.
  • Interpret and analyze financial statements
  • Develop and maintain an effective cash management system.
  • Manage the day to day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies.
  • Close the books accurately each month.
  • Prepare and submit required statements and reports
  • Manage and safeguard the stores assets and ensure that internal controls are in place
  • Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports and in creating action plans needed to improve their operation.
  • Respond to request for information and assistance in a timely manner.
  • Work with General Manager to improve revenue or reduce expense in order to meet or exceed budget and grow the business.
  • Work with staff to ensure that corporate initiatives are attained.
  • Provide administrative support to management, sales and other departments as needed
  • Any other duties assigned by Senior Management (i.e. General Manager, CFO or President)
  • Clean Background Required for Controller Position
