The purpose of this role is to design database systems. The Data Engineer's main responsibility is to analyze the needs of an organization and produce an effective database system according to their needs and specifications. This includes collecting data, analyzing the data, designing processes, drawing flowcharts and implementing code for the logic developed through the algorithms and flowcharts.  Scope:This role reports to the Data Architect and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure timely availability of accurate data and metrics from our IT partners.  Another responsibility of this role is to design and implement features for new and existing products, platforms and frameworks by writing high quality, scalable, and maintainable code. The Data Engineer will develop ETL Process, reports that tie into our overall yearly organizational strategy. Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to) troubleshooting and resolving issues with the data repository and external data feeds, working with outside vendors to bring them up to company standards, and collaborating on code reviews, internal infrastructure, and process enhancements as needed throughout the lifecycle of software.The Data Engineer has a passion for delivering high-quality code, embracing and adapting to rapid change related to emerging business strategies. They understand how to manage change through influence and collaboration, effectively managing complexity. This position requires creative problem solving and a highly organized, process-focused aptitude to manage a variety of responsibilities and deliverables. 
Key Criteria/Requirements:

  • Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in a development role utilizing a database platform such as SQL Server
  • Expertise with one or more ETL tools
  • Hands-on development experience with SOLID principles
  • Experience with Cloud based solutions such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with T-SQL, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and BI tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work fluidly with several technical disciplines, including program management, development, test, operations, and support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be able to communicate current workload and progress
  • Superior interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships across groups and all management levels
  • Ability to excel in ambiguous business situations by adapting plans and approach
  • Sound problem resolution, negotiation, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking)
  • Knowledge of the business for which the enterprise architecture is being developed
