Job Description

 

complies with plant’s environmental, safety, and health requirements

•promotes a safe working environment and uses permits to work, job hazard analysis, pre-startup safety reviews, lockout/tag out, proper PPE, and job procedures and plans

•adheres to federal, state, and local electrical codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

•verifies equipment is properly installed and safe to operate – identifies and corrects safety-related issues

•operates and maintains all utility chill water, tempered water, sanitary waste water, cooling water, heating and cooling, fire protection, natural gas, nitrogen, steam generation, and compressed air systems

•completes all equipment PMs on schedule that maintain the mechanical integrity of equipment considered covered by the plant’s process safety management program

•manages change by revising drawings as-built and ensures plant’s management of change process is utilized

•participates in administrative maintenance of IOM manuals, technical references, drawings, and diagrams

•has ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical one line diagrams, ladder logic, schematics, etc..
•collects water samples and maintains documentation for NPDES Discharge Monitoring Reporting

•provide support to create job scopes, estimate manpower, and identify tools, supplies, materials, and 3rd party services needed to complete assigned tasks

•performs preventive maintenance (PMs) on critical equipment as scheduled by SAP.

•highly organized and maintains a strict and dependable schedule to complete work assignments on time

•able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

•proficient using PC with Microsoft Office Suite software programs

•troubleshoots and repairs problems with electrical devices and instrumentation associated with pneumatic conveying systems, weighing, packaging, conveying , and shrink wrapping machines, gas dryers (air/fuel controllers), centrifuge separators, boilers, engines, heaters, and generators

•trained to safely use test instruments, hand and power tools

•maintains test equipment used to troubleshoot or configure instruments and electrical equipment

•installs, configures, and calibrates pressure, temperature, flow, analytical instruments, control valve positioners, switches, and electro mechanical / pneumatic devices

•maintains gas and fire detectors, control devices, interlocks, alarms, and shutdown systems

•maintains and troubleshoots normal power and emergency backup power distribution systems

•installs, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical distribution equipment including power transformers, circuit interrupters, capacitors, voltage regulators, medium voltage switches, relays, and circuit breakers

•installs, troubleshoots, and repairs variable frequency drives

•maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs motors, starters, and motor control equipment

•measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs conduit and cable tray

•pulls, splices, and terminates power and instrument cable

•maintains and routinely tests equipment grounding systems

•installs, maintains, and repairs plant lighting systems

•assists with coordination of electrical and instrumentation work completed by 3rd party contractors – ensures contractors have been prequalified and adhere to plant’s contractor safety guidelines

•assists with specification, storage, quality control, and physical inventory of critical spare parts

•performs daily rounds to collect information needed to assess equipment performance and condition and identifies potential equipment failures

•effectively communicates information regarding condition and performance of instruments and equipment

•identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and/or cost savings and recommends activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance

•utilizes root cause failure analysis or failure mode effect analysis to continuously improve performance

•works with outside vendors and/or contractors to acquire necessary information on installation, operation, and repair of instrumentation and control systems

•provides description of work history, parts used, and actual man-hours in SAP for work orders completed

•performs general administrative tasks such as acquiring job permits, accessing and printing daily schedules, entering work history and closing work orders in SAP, entering time in SAP, acquiring PM task list, accessing information from equipment files, and producing simple job plans

•creates and maintains instrument calibration records and files

•uses SAP to create notifications and confirm work orders - ensures completed work is documented in SAP
