Are you an experienced director of diversity and inclusion interested in a full-time, permanent job opportunity in Washington DC? Generally, you will provide consultation to firm leadership to establish and maintain diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives and goals that help to recruit, professionally develop, and retain a diverse attorney population. This will involve brainstorming, developing, and implementing programs that enhance the firm’s reputation as a leader in D&I; overseeing firm-wide and office-level diversity committees and group activities; providing leadership, direction, and mentorship to D&I managers and staff; communicating D&I objectives and goals and providing feedback on these objectives routinely; preparing annual D&I performance evaluations; and providing career coaching for diverse counsel. This role also involves regular travel to other offices to build relationships and understand D&I needs across many geographic locations; researching, tracking, and analyzing recruitment and retention numbers as they relate to diverse populations; developing methods to evaluate the effectiveness of D&I programs and initiatives; identifying and pursuing client partnerships that support or foster D&I; supporting recruiting efforts that allow for more diverse firm personnel; developing and delivering D&I trainings; assisting with developing marketing materials that communicate D&I successes within the firm; and serving as a subject matter expert on diversity-related issues at a number of conferences and meetings. The ideal candidate will be a pleasure to work with, with great capacity for building strong, supportive professional relationships alongside superb communication skills. - 10+ years of experience managing complex diversity programs, preferably in a large law firm environment
- Strong computer proficiency, especially with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail
- Great communication skills with strong relationship-building and professional networking abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required, JD preferred
