Job Description: Position Title: Chief Technology Officer FLSA Status: Exempt – Executive Exemption Reports to: Chief Information Officer Summary of the Job: The Chief Technology Officer is the visionary responsible for leading and overseeing the analysis, planning, organizing, maintenance, and support of Southside Bank’s enterprise technology infrastructure including network, compute, storage, data communications, and telecommunications. This person will determine the current and future infrastructure needs, develop an infrastructure technology strategy, design and maintain an infrastructure roadmap, and lead the infrastructure team in achieving its objectives. Additionally, this individual will develop budgets, policies, and standards to ensure the availability, interoperability, recoverability, reliability, scalability, and security of the Bank’s technology infrastructure. Essential Functions: Build and lead the Enterprise Technology Infrastructure Team through mentoring and ongoing development and training of team members and management.Develop the Bank’s technology infrastructure strategy and ensure it aligns to the Bank’s overall business strategy, supports the attainment of corporate goals and objectives, and includes modern cloud components.Assist the Chief Information Officer in the development of the Technology Department’s annual budget and its Technology Strategic Plan.Introduce innovative and differentiating technology infrastructure and operational capabilities that enhance the Bank’s competitiveness and increase employee productivity.Drive innovation in all aspects of infrastructure observability and monitoring.Review, recommend, and implement new technologies to improve/optimize technology infrastructure operations and related support functions.Oversee efficient and reliable infrastructure operations for all data centers, colocation facilities, and cloud hosted environments.Ensure appropriate monitoring and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to Technology Department Management, the Chief Information Officer, selected committees and the Board of Directors.Manage relationships with key technology partners and vendors, associated with the infrastructure, and ensure negotiated Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are being met.Negotiate contracts and pricing for infrastructure related products and services.Ensure all relevant policies and standards are being adhered to through proper processes and procedure.Ensure appropriate documentation of processes, procedures and infrastructure topology are maintained and remain current.Oversee and drive remediation activities for audit and examination findings related to the Bank’s technology infrastructure.Build successful stakeholder relationships with other technology and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of technology services to meet identified needs. Collaborate with the Bank’s Chief Information Security Officer to ensure infrastructure technologies are properly configured/hardened, monitored, and maintained/patched from a security perspective.Identify and secure appropriate resources (internal and external) to ensure the successful execution of the Bank’s Technology Strategic Plan.Build the plan for and lead the execution of the technology infrastructure integration of an acquired business unit or company/organization. Additional Functions:Develop and drive the Bank’s cloud technologies strategy and incorporate this into the Technology Strategic Plan.Remain current with emerging technologies through technical publications, vendor activities, conferences/seminars and formal education.Provide overall (“big picture”) thought leadership to the Technology Team.Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of personnel.Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field from four-year College or University, or ten years’ related enterprise infrastructure management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Prior experience planning for and leading the execution of the technology infrastructure integration of an acquired business unit or company/organization.Prior experience planning and migrating on premise architecture/infrastructure to the cloud.Prior experience managing a multi-level team. Preferred Experience: Experience managing technology teams and infrastructure in the banking industry or other financial services industries.A technical infrastructure implementation and management background covering: internal datacenter hosting, colocation, virtualization (ESXi, Citrix), enterprise networking (LAN, WAN), servers and blades (Cisco) and storage (Nimble/Cohesity, SAN, NAS).Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure and other cloud-based services. Necessary Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to formally present complex technical concepts to external partners and various internal management levels.Strong leadership skills with a focus on building accountability, excellence, innovation, integrity and teamwork.Ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume of competing activities in a highly visible, fast paced, and high-pressure environment.Ability to lead and delegate responsibilities to multi-layered technical teams.Deep knowledge and prior hands-on experience supporting key infrastructure components including networking, compute, storage, data communications, telephony, and virtualization technologiesThis position will require extensive technical expertise in the IT Infrastructure areas of data center hosting, virtualization, enterprise networking, servers and storage in combination with planning, budgeting, coordination, reporting and execution to ensure the successful delivery of multiple project outcomes simultaneously.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.An analytical, detail oriented, thought process with the ability to take methodical approach to activities such as data analysis & stability trending.Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Deep knowledge of supporting infrastructure related disaster recovery scenarios.Strong project management skills. Physical Activity/Dexterity:Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Physical Environment Demands:Sitting for long periods of time working on a computer.Close vision needed (clear vision at 20 inches or less).The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc. Working Conditions/Environment:Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Work Schedule/Hours:Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Work as needed on weekends and holidays.On call 24 x 7. Travel:Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.Occasional travel between Tyler and Fort Worth.
