Job Description:The Registrar provides leadership and oversight to all aspects of the Registrar's Office. The Registrar must effectively manage the maintenance and integrity of all student academic records, the approved curriculum, the creation and maintenance of course schedules, all areas of student registration and the recording and reporting of grades, compliance with FERPA regulations, and the establishment and maintenance of processes for the equitable and consistent administration of policies and procedures as they relate to registration and academic record keeping. The Registrar must provide strong leadership consistent with the academic goals and mission of the institution.Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, organize, direct, and lead the administrative and operational activities of the Registrar's Office.Develop and implement administrative policies, procedures, and technology to facilitate the timely, accurate, efficient and innovative provision of services.Maintain Banner's course catalog with Curriculum Committee updates.Responsible for organizational planning, policy recommendations and implementation of procedures for student records, registration, graduation, and athletic certification.Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of academic records; schedule courses and classrooms.Work closely with deans and department chairs, and distance education staff.Distribute student information to students, advisors, faculty and staff in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner while maintaining the confidentiality of all student information in accordance with FERPA and other laws.Initiate projects involving related offices (Admissions, Bursar's Office, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, etc.)Manage the fiscal affairs of the department, including budget development and prioritiesServe on various University committees and advisory groupsApprove student information security access requests.Functions independently in order to accomplish assigned projects.
Refers unusual problems to supervisor.Recommends or make major policies for the department.Supervises Registrar's office professional, classified, and part-time employeesEducation and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree required.Master's degree preferred.Five years experience as a registrar or associate/assistant registrar or experience in a closely related field preferred.Knowledge and experience in student information systems, specifically Ellucian Banner.A thorough knowledge of registration processing, grading systems, academic policies and procedures, and scheduling procedures.Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations, systems, and staff.Strong interpersonal skills, writing skills and experience in designing, developing and implementing computer systems for registrar operations.Knowledge and understanding of FERPA and other applicable laws are preferred.Must have a thorough understanding of database structure and function, networks, and PC technologies, and is expected to maintain state-of-the-art capabilities.Knowledge of and experience with NSLDS/National Student Clearinghouse reporting and error correction.Documents Needed to Apply:ResumeCover LetterContact information for 3 professional referencesSouthern Utah University is committed to maintaining a community which recognizes and values the worth and dignity of every person; fosters tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect among its members; and encourages individual commitment to personal responsibilities in equal measure with personal rights.
