Field Service Technician

Southern Flow, Inc. is looking for a motivated control system technician to join our team in the Richmond area. This individual would be part of our commissioning team responsible for making control panel modifications, performing communication termination and testing, performing IO checkouts and control loop testing. 

Primary Job Duties:

·       Panel building and modifications both in the shop and in the field

·       Minor PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) field alterations and modifications to meet project specifications.

·       On site system start-up and commissioning of various instrumentation and control panels

·       Interfacing with contractors and end users

·       Troubleshoot and support existing customers and installations

Requirements:

·       BSEET or ASEET in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechatronics engineering. OR

·       5+ years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the above degrees. HVAC technician or electrician experience is a definite positive.

·       Ability to understand and apply principles of both AC and DC electrical circuits, including 3 phase AC power and motors.

·       Ability to learn and apply component specification, construction techniques and requirements as defined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. 508-A and 698 specifications.

·       Competent in the use of small hand tools and soldering equipment in the construction of instrumentation control panels and consoles as described by project specifications and drawings created by SFI Engineers.

·       Ability to read and interpret technical specifications / drawings necessary to construct the control panels and interface to OEM sub-systems used in our automation equipment.

·       Ability to learn and apply basic programming principles in PLC ladder logic across various PLC platforms.

·       Construct work products that meet SFI’s requirements for construction of high-quality professionally developed systems.

·       Strong, fundamental understanding of computers, networking, and the Microsoft operating systems.

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

·       Ability to travel locally to the Richmond area.
