Job Summary:

The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems and software systems are up and always functioning optimally to ensure that systems are available for staff to provide quality care to our patients. Also provides help desk support to end-users for desktop and system issues. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, VoIP phones, company mobile phones, databases, software deployment, malware/virus detection software, security updates/patches
  • Manage the VMWare virtual server host environment and perform maintenance and upgrades as necessary.
  • Manage the Windows server environment, including Active Directory, Office 365, SQL Server, file servers, print services, etc.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures/documentation
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software problems
  • Perform troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
  • Respond to and resolve help desk requests
  • Implements and maintains network hardware and software
  • Monitors network performance and makes modifications
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves network operating problems
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance
  • Additional job functions as assigned by the Director of IT

Job Skill Requirements:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Windows 10/11 Desktop operating systems administration.
  • Microsoft DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Active Directory.
  • Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • VMWare vSphere and VMWare Horizon VDI.

The following skills are preferred but not required:
  • Scripting (i.e. Powershell, SQL, etc.)
  • Citrix

  • Problem Solving/Analysis
  • Technical Capacity
  • Communication Proficiency
  • Time Management

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology plus a minimum of 3 years' experience as a full-time network administrator required, however, candidates with an associate degree in computers/networking and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the role of full-time network administrator will be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree.

Working Hours:
  • An individual in this position customarily works 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday; however, responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice. On-call is also required.

Physical and Other Requirements:
  • Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk and stand
  • Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
