Position Title:               Director of Development

Position Summary

The Director of Development is responsible for the successful implementation and execution of the fundraising efforts. S/he will be responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of corporate and individual partnerships. This position is a full-time position.  The Director of Development is expected to work evening and weekends when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

I. Increasing Donor Base and Revenue Sources

  • Develop and execute an annual giving program producing 2-4 mm in revenue.
  • Cultivate new and maintain current donor relationships, while stratifying them into a giving program.
  • Manage and oversee the direct activities of the Grant Writer.
  • Maintain and update donor record database.
  • Manage the implementation of etapestry and gift processing. Continuously ensure SSHFH donor database management system (etapestry) is reflective of all fundraising activities.
  • Create and produce fundraising events.
  • Facilitate new opportunities for sources of revenue.

·       Mine and procure new corporate and legacy donors with the intention of long-term support.

·         Prepare and execute numerous written correspondence ie: (solicitation proposals, letters of inquiry, cases for support acknowledgements and related materials).

·         Provide annual giving budget, forecasts, and pipeline reports to the board of directors.

·         Produce and execute a successful annual appeal program.

 

II. Event Management

  • Manage all fundraising events.
  • Identify and recruit volunteers and chairs to run the event.
  • Create and manage event budgets

 

IV. In-kind Donations

·         Work with construction staff to identify items and services for construction projects.

·         Solicit and coordinate in-kind donations to reduce construction expenses.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

·         Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, engage, inspire and persuade involvement from donors.

·         Ability to cultivate relationships to maximize sponsorship opportunities.

·         Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

·         Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.

·         8+ years of front-line experience in leadership gift development with proven results.

·         Demonstrated track record of closing complex six-figure commitments including campaign and planned gifts.

·         Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. As well as experience with Constant Contact, social media and additional communication tools.

·         Experience with Etapestry or Raiser’s Edge CRM software a plus

·         A valid driver’s license and use of a reliable vehicle.

·         Team player with energetic spirit, strong work ethic, and collaborative mind set.

·         Ability to build professional and collaborative relationships that move initiatives forward.

·         Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and attend evening and weekend meetings and events.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree

CFRE or CDE preferred

Minimum 8 years’ experience in Development
