Social Pet Hotel & Daycare is looking to hire a positive, hard-working dog lover with leadership experience to work as a Dog Trainer Assistant at our Pineville, NC facility. This position starts at $11/hr and is compensated through hourly pay plus performance-based bonus. All of our employees are eligible for performance-based bonuses every 2 weeks, free yoga classes, free daycare for their dogs while on shift, and 50% off daycare and boarding for their dogs while not at work. Our full-time employees are also eligible for medical benefits, a 401(k), 40 hours per year of paid time off (PTO), and education reimbursement. As a Dog Trainer Assistant you are the go-to support person for our Dog Trainers and Enrichment team. You get to heavily focus on dog training but also flex around and manage small play groups, conduct one-on-one sessions with dogs, and ensure they are cozy in their accommodations when it's time for a break! You are patient and adjust your interactions with each dog based on his/her skill level and focus, having fun while working to achieve the goals we discussed with the pet parents. You help maintain accurate records of dog behavior and can competently discuss each dog's experiences and behavior, helping to bridge the connection between our pet care team and pet parents. With attention to detail, you help execute the Dog Trainer's and Enrichment team's strategy and ensure that each dog gets what it needs while at Social Pet. You use our computer software program to keep records organized and up-to-date. With a welcoming smile, you greet all pet parents and their pets as they enter our establishment, and ensure your customer service is exceptional in every way.

Safety is your number one priority! You carefully observe dog behavior and ensure that good play skills and calming signals are being used at all times. You work side-by-side with all team members to complete all necessary chores to the highest standards. And, depending on your shift, you ensure that all opening or closing duties are completed properly.

Your ability to give and receive regular feedback, proactively address customer and staff challenges, and lead by example through daily positive interactions with the people and dogs around you is crucial to your success. You get to enjoy all kinds of canine love, from giant, enthusiastic, slobbery love to dainty, reserved love. You freely dole out petting and affection to dogs of all breeds and temperaments.   • Assisting the dog trainers with fun activities, proper leash walking, daily exercise, water activities, and basic manners
  • Supervising and training dogs during scheduled activities
  • Care of daycare and lodging, including cleaning their accommodations, disposing of waste, and ensuring they have food and water
  • Leading small group or one-on-one activities in support of both the Dog Training and Enrichment programs
  • Documentation of notes, dog behaviors, training plans, etc. in software to ensure consistent communication between team members and pet parents


  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with positive reinforcement techniques, knowledge of canine behavior and body language, and play group management techniques
  • Ability to complete FetchFind comprehensive skills training upon hire
  • Physically capable of handling dogs of all sizes
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs bags of dog food on a regular basis
  • Customer service skills
  • A passion for animals

This Dog Trainer Assistant position requires a flexible schedule typically working 5 days a week for 8-ish hour shifts. Full-time and part-time shifts are available. We are open 7 days a week, so weekends and holidays are part of the job.
