Soccer Shots Company Owned Units (COUs) were established in DC/MD/VA Ten years ago. COUS stretch from Harford Co, MD to Prince William Co, VA. COUs offices are in Laurel, MD, Fairfax, VA & Lutherville, MD. Soccer Shots COUs work closely with Soccer Shots Franchising National Headquarters in Middletown, PA. COUs offers programs at nearly 400 locations, serves over 24,000 participants, and employs approximately 100 part-time coaches and 30 full-time employees.
Academic and Experiential Objectives
The intern will be required to handle and present him/herself in a professional manner, consistently arriving on time to assigned office hours, and events. S/he will be expected to assist in the overall execution of a Soccer Shots season and will gain knowledge in the wide range of projects related to employee onboarding, recruitment reports, market analysis of potential local coaches, researching job fairs/events and coaching Soccer Shots sessions.
Throughout the season, the intern will have the opportunity to identify potential recruitment events, interview candidates, track candidates in the interview process, and onboard as soon as candidates are hired.

This internship experience may or may not already be an approved academic credit internship with your school. Please make sure to notify us immediately if you are seeking academic credit through your school for this experience. With your help, Soccer Shots will work directly with your school’s registrar, academic advisor, or internship department to help you achieve academic credit for this internship experience.
Responsibilities (can include but are not limited to):
- Assisting with employee on-boarding
- Assist with internship training manual
- Assist with Internship weekly meetings
- Data entry
- Assist in the scheduling of phone screens of new employees and interns
- Attend recruiting events
- Network with potential employees at events
- Identify opportunities to market new positions to increase flow of applicants
- Assist team with coaching sessions
- Evaluate other coaches
Functions in a temperature controlled office environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to sit, stand and walk throughout an extended work day (8 – 10 hours); position requires use of fingers, hands and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work; position may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. The standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers and phone conversations. Position may occasionally have the need to be exposed to an inside/outside sports environment.
Functions in an inside sports environment a majority of the time. Work requires ability to run, stop, stoop, bend (a physical, exercise type regimen) in a minimum of 40 minute increments per session. Position requires use of hands, arms, legs and feet and may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Moderate gymnasium like noises are associated with this position as well as excellent vision skills (with or without correction.)
Goals & Evaluation method
A performance evaluation will occur at the conclusion of the first term and at the conclusion of the internship placement. The evaluation will consider the following general areas of professional operations, and specific intern goals within each area:

Internship Structure and Compensation
The Soccer Shots internship will encompass a minimum of 240 hours. The internship will include twelve consecutive 20-hour (minimum) work weeks for the duration of the internship.
During the first four weeks of the internship, the intern will be working closely with the Program Coordinators on preparing for the upcoming season -- scheduling instructors, running demos, and promoting the season. Once the season starts, the student intern’s focus will shift to executing the program by coaching approximately 12-15 Soccer Shots sessions per week (sites and times TBD) and training, evaluating, and supporting other coaches.
The intern will be compensated $12/hr.
Internship positions are available for the following time periods:
Spring internship : Feb 28th, 2022 through June 12th, 2022 Summer Internship : May 31st, 2022 through August 29th, 2022
