New hires can earn $500 bonus their first day + $500 bonus after 6 months

Socalo is seeking evening line cooks (both part-time and nights five days a week) to join our team. Restaurant experience is required. We are looking for individuals who take extreme pride in their work and support of their team. Socalo is currently open for indoor and outdoor dining, takeout and delivery Tuesday - Saturday.

Socalo is a beachy, California canteen and Mexican pub, part of the Border Grill Hospitality Group from award-winning chef/owners Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. We serve conscientiously-sourced, seasonal SoCal Mexican fare alongside cocktails featuring small-batch spirits, craft beers on tap and Mexican wines. Socalo debuted in December of 2019, earning such accolades as “101 Restaurants and People that Define How LA Eats in 2020” from The LA Times, “15 Best New Restaurants in Los Angeles 2020 ” from Eater, and “15 Best New Los Angeles Restaurants of 2020” from Time Out.

Socalo is part of Border Grill Hospitality Group is an established restaurant brand, owned by celebrity chef duo Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. Originally opened in 1985 as a small, forty seat taco stand, Border Grill now encompasses restaurants, gourmet food trucks and a full service event catering business. Company is based in Los Angeles and has since expanded to restaurants in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino (1999), Border Grill Trucks (2009), and locations at Los Angeles International Airport and Rose Bowl. In June 2018, Milliken and Feniger debuted BBQ Mexicana a fast casual eatery with locations at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas Ballpark, most recently inside the new Allegiant Stadium. The chefs returned to Santa Monica with Socalo, an all-day California canteen and Mexican pub, in December 2019.

Chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger have been working together for over three decades, and are regarded as pioneers of the Los Angeles restaurant scene, since opening City Café in 1981, CITY in 1985, Ciudad in 1998, along with developing the Border Grill brand into the successful company it is today. The two chefs are also national media fixtures, starring in nearly 400 episodes of their original show “Too Hot Tamales” and numerous episodes of “Top Chef Masters,” authors of five cookbooks, and countless appearances on national talk and morning shows. Additionally, both chefs have led the industry as early champions of sustainability and community involvement, through long standing partnerships with Monterey Bay Aquarium & Seafood Watch, Share Our Strength & No Kid Hungry, Scleroderma Research Foundation, LA Gay & Lesbian Center, OXFAM, James Beard Foundation, and Chefs Collaborative.
