The Company

Snapyr is a customer retention & engagement marketing start-up incubated by a highly successful, unicorn gaming company backed by prominent NYC institutional investors Tiger Global and the Raine Group. Snapyr operates as a remote organization with headquarters in Philadelphia.

One of the most important challenges for brands today is to truly and deeply engage with each of their existing customers. Customers are numb to the countless irrelevant, poorly timed messages (texts, emails, notifications) they receive from the brands they’ve come in contact with. The result is lost customer engagement and, ultimately, lost customer lifetime value.

Brands know this all too well, but today’s customer engagement platforms are outdated and don’t offer brands the capabilities they need to solve this problem. Over the last two years, Snapyr has built the world’s first and only block-based “programming language” for marketers - a powerful yet super-intuitive visual language called Snapyr Blocks that requires no software coding experience. Snapyr Blocks enables marketers to run highly targeted campaigns based on sophisticated logic, A/B testing, real-time end-user activity, and omni-channel communications. Snapyr Blocks is a completely different approach than the traditional flowchart-based approach currently used by all major competitive platforms. Flowcharts are fine for simple campaigns, but quickly bog down when things get complex.

Snapyr Blocks also provides drag & drop accessibility, a much cleaner design, and an overall superior UX. The end result is marketers can run sophisticated campaigns in a fraction of the time, dramatically improving their revenues.

It’s early days in a large, fast growing sector with a market size of $15 billion (per IDC). We have competition, but it’s “Web 1.0” days in our industry and we’re bringing the world forward to Web 3.0. Snapyr has built the next generation solution and is now poised to acquire a significant share of the pie. The company already has secured the world’s largest blockchain gaming company and India’s largest gaming company as customers, among others, and is now ramping up its marketing efforts. Snapyr intends to quickly gain share in gaming, where retention marketing needs are most demanding, and expand in other large verticals like eCommerce, all on a global basis.

The Leadership

Our CTO (Brian O’Neill) is a highly seasoned CTO with deep experience in the marketing automation sector. He was most recently CTO of Monetate, a marketing automation startup that built an AI-driven personalization platform and influenced over a third of U.S. ecommerce sales during one of the highest grossing "Cyber Weeks" in history. Brian led Monetate through a successful sale to Vista Equity, his second such success. He has attracted a team of dedicated former colleagues to Snapyr, testament to his leadership skills as well as his technology skills.

Our CEO (Manu Gambhir) is a well known, highly successful serial entrepreneur in the gaming sector, where customer engagement is a key focus. He has deep knowledge of both the challenges and opportunities of customer engagement, a compelling vision for how to address those, and the proven execution ability to bring visions to reality in a highly profitable way. He is an investor in and advisor to numerous successful startups and has a deep set of contacts in the tech world.

The Role

The VP of Engineering is an engineering leadership position, working closely with the CTO as his copilot to help bring an ambitious product roadmap of exciting new innovations to reality. Key to all this will be managing the team to ensure proper execution, which is where the VP of Engineering will play a critical role.

As the VP of Engineering you will be our conductor, ensuring the trains run on time. You will use metrics and develop dashboards to get us to our destination on time, feature-complete with high quality. You will identify opportunities for improvement, and lead implementation of requisite changes to optimize processes, architecture, and tooling.

You will also be a coach. You will inspire the team, help everyone improve and succeed, and help Snapyr recruit the best talent on the planet.

You will report directly into the CTO while owning the reporting structure for engineering and quality assurance. Presently, there are development teams across the US (primarily east coast), Armenia, and India comprising approx. 15 people with plans to at least double in size next year.

  • Lead and manage the engineering team on a day-to-day basis to ensure superb execution and delivery
  • Implement and refine processes, metrics, architecture, and methodologies to improve the quality of software development with sustainability, scalability, and simplicity
  • Intensively coach team members to improve their technical, problem solving, and collaboration skills, both for our benefit and their own career growth
  • Work with senior leadership and other executives on key business initiatives
  • Contribute to the fun, energy, and motivation in a high performance culture
Job Qualifications
  • Strong technical skills with 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Track record of managing development teams across the stack (including process improvement, recruiting, team building, and skill development)
  • Previous startup experience, demonstrating drive and ability to work in dynamic entrepreneurial environment
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Willingness to work east coast hours as well as travel periodically (e.g. once a quarter) to Philadelphia for team meetings
