Great food. Great beer. Community. That is why guests come to the Smuttynose Restaurant located at the Smuttynose campus in Hampton, NH. We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to assist with cultivating a winning team. You will help ensure that our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have an amazing experience that will bring them back to our restaurant and brewery time and time again.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain high standards of operations that will propel the Smuttynose Restaurant to be one of the most respected and trusted servers of delicious and quality food on the seacoast
• Cultivate a strong connection to our customer base
• Create and sustain a culture of pride amongst the entire front of house staff through empowerment, effective training, guidance, and effective leadership
• Promotes a healthy, respectful relationship between the front and back of the house personnel
• Oversee kitchen along with FOH
• Ensuring employee safety by establishing and maintaining a safe work environment
• Participate in the innovation and inspiration for hosted beer and food events
• Lead FOH daily pre-meals to inform of updates, menu changes, improvements, and beer tastings
• Enter specials and menu updates into Toast POS system
• Manage flow of service with a minimum of two table touches per half hour
• Handle master cash-out banks, bartender drawers, and accurate distribution of end of shift cash-outs
• Collaborating with all managers and supervisors on working towards team goals and objectives.
• Assist the General Manager with interviews, scheduling, performance reviews, and feedback to improve productivity
• Assist the GM with POS updates, the design of new service areas and any other duties and responsibilities that he/she deems necessary
• Manage weekly and monthly inventory
• Order liquor, beer, and paper goods
• Oversee creating and costing seasonal specialty cocktails, recipes, and drink specials
• Responsible for making music cancellations on designated shifts

POSITION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of restaurant experience
• Proven track record in successfully training and developing people
• High energy and motivation to succeed
• High standards for yourself and for your people
• Combination of both front of the house and back of the house management experience.
• Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant.
• Verbal communications skills
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
