As a Sales Team member, you would assist in leveraging data metrics to develop methods to strategically maximize the profitability of a specific brand category in our business. In representing Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan's Famous, or any of our brands, you will collaborate cross-functionally across the company from our sales team to our business management operations to deliver the best product to our customers and consumers.

The Associate Category Development Analyst assists in analyzing consumer, category, customer and market data in order to build sound business recommendations and develop high quality supporting presentations. Focused on identifying mutually beneficial opportunities that support both Smithfield brand growth and retailer category growth, by working closely with Smithfield's Sales and retailer partners. This role will interface with the customer to explain rationale for retailer specific recommendations and help turn insights into action.

Core Responsibilities

+ Fact Based Sales Support(Category Captain) - Integrates information from many sources and develops actionable insights and recommendations in support of category and team initiatives. You will become a "trusted category advisor". This work includes, but is not limited to, new product introductions, pricing analyses, seasonal reviews and programs, promotional planning and evaluation. This may (at times) require working "onsite" at our Retailers.
+ Sales Reporting and Interpretation -Manages current reporting structure and develops new analyses tools to assist the team with fact based recommendations based on category and consumer trends.
+ Continuous Improvement- Continuously improve our capabilities and processes to drive superior results.

+ Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Marketing, Business Administration or related field; required.
+ Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university, preferred.
+ 2+ years of relevant Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience in sales, marketing, category management or trade marketing, preferred.
+ Experience with and understanding of category management processes is preferred.
+ 1+ years of experience working with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, etc.), preferred
+ Ability to synthesize data from multiple resources to build actionable recommendations.
+ Advanced analytical skills using PC based applications (Windows, Excel, Powerpoint) with emphasis on Advanced Excel Pivot Tables to database queries required to manipulate & synthesize data from multiple resources to build actionable recommendations.
+ Demonstrated strengths in analysis and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with enthusiasm and impact both verbally and written.
