Sleepy Hollow Automotive Group is a privately held family owned and operated multi-franchise dealer group in southwest Wisconsin. Our group has been in business for over 30 years and represents multiple franchises including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Ford.

Sleepy Hollow Automotive Group is seeking a Deputy Chief Financial Officer to assist the Chief Financial Officer to oversee 4 new car dealership franchises as well as our accounting corporate office. Successful candidates will have experience with overseeing the financial well-being of all departments of an automotive group, maintain accurate records of financial statements, assist with decisions regarding policy and strategy, identify financial risks and opportunities for the company, as reporting to our owners to streamline strategic plans for the dealership. The ideal candidate will need to have a hand’s on and interactive management style as they work directly with the CFO and Executive Team daily. The ideal candidate will need to have the ability to accurately provide sales and expense analyses for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.

We are looking for someone who is well-versed in automotive culture, has strong leadership/accounting skills, the ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

The Deputy CFO will be responsible for overseeing all dealership accounting functions, reporting directly to and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer. As the Deputy CFO you will contribute to the success of the company by providing financial direction, by determining realistic goals/budgets and equipping each business with the tools and processes necessary to achieve its financial plan.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the Deputy CFO position at our automotive group include but are not limited to: Timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements in final draft form to be submitted to the CFO for review. Daily monitoring and management of cash group wide, bank reconciliations, GL review, setting and monitoring accruals and maintaining the primary contact with our outside CPA firm regarding audits, tax returns and preparation.

The Deputy CFO will oversee all aspects of accounting operations of the Company
Review general ledger for accuracy and prepare financial statements.
Reconciliations of all current bank accounts and multiple land company accounts
Maintain an effective cash management system with daily reporting
Setting up and maintain accruals for expenses
Running and reviewing expense trend reports monthly
Standardize accounting processes and procedures across all dealerships
Continually review accounting policies and procedures to ensure that the company is compliant with GAAP and statutory accounting
Implement financial and operational metrics and analytics to present to Executive Management
Implement reliable forecasting tools (P&L, cash flow and balance sheet)
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines.
Ensures that all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, parts inventory, and co-op advertising accounts are current and accurate.
Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating (DOC) regularly and informs dealer principal of developing trends.
Must have the ability to use automotive accounting software such Automate, R&R, DealerTrack
Prepares short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
Proactively manage and safeguard company assets.
Prepare the daily, weekly, monthly reports required by the management team.
Reviews the general ledger and schedule accounts and investigates any unusual entries.
Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payables, floor plan payable, A/R, and A/P.
Monitors the financial performance of the company
Maintains the General Ledger
Prepares monthly financial statements
Analyzes financial information
Develops and manages financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
Communicates financial metrics to senior management
Provides leadership and support to accounts receivable, accounts payable, vehicle billing,
Job Requirements

Our Automotive Group is looking for the following requirements in the ideal candidate to be met.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in accounting
Additional Requirements

Strong leadership, high character, strong work ethic.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Expert level knowledge with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word, and is expected to familiarize themselves with additional accounting software programs if necessary.

At least 5 years of accounting experience in a dealership setting with at least Office Manager responsibilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
Self-motivated and self-directed
Ability to work closely with a senior management team
Required; BA or equivalent 5 years’ experience in same or similar position
Required: Computer skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other dealership database systems
Required: Candidate must submit to a full background check and have Current Driver License with satisfactory Department of Motor Vehicle driving record
