Behavioral Health Specialist (LCSW) Job Description

SisterHouse is seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide therapy and case management services to women recovering from addiction, mental health issues, and the long-term effects of poverty.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Job Description:
This is a dynamic, hands-on position where you can be instrumental in helping to change the lives of women by assessing their mental health status, implementing a treatment plan, conducting individual and group therapy sessions, and providing a variety of case management services.

Primary job responsibilities:
• Conduct mental health assessments
• Develop individual treatment plans for clients
• Provide group and individual therapy
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling
• Meet with clients weekly to set goals, provide strategies to overcome addiction & review progress
• Coordinate and manage individual interventions
• Assists the Executive Director in designing and implementing quality programs and services to meet the needs of the clients
• Provide referral services to clients when necessary
• Ensure continuity of care by optimizing communication between referral agencies and other health care professionals
• Complete monthly Medicaid billing
• Complete monthly outcome reporting
• Provide case management services

Mandatory Requirements
• Master’s degree from an accredited School of Social Work
• A valid, unrestricted LCSW license
• Experience working with individuals with addiction, mental health, and co-occurring problems

-Knowledge of chemical dependency and behavioral health dynamics.
-Knowledge of the 12-Step recovery process and how to articulate it to clients.
-Knowledge of the Chicago-area network of agencies that provide wrap around services and resources for clients.
-Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
-Experience in conflict resolution strategies and crisis intervention.
-CADC certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
-Experience using Microsoft Office software.
-Experience with Medicaid/Medicare billing*

● Assumes responsibility for being knowledgeable about client rights and the procedures governing them
● Creates a safe, therapeutic environment that respects the rights of all clients
● Handles crisis situations in a calm, quick and efficient manner, de-escalating conflict using crisis intervention strategies while maintaining order; when necessary; calls the Executive Director, 911 or the appropriate authorities as the situation demands
● Consults and builds relationship with staff from referral agencies

● Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds

We are located on the grounds of St. Lucy/St. Catherine’s parish in beautiful Oak Park, Illinois and have the capacity to house 16-18 women at a time.
