Who we are looking for: The IT Project Engineer is responsible for maintaining the structure and integrity of the customer’s IT environment, assisting in planning, and coordinating difficult projects and implementing new IT solutions. Their daily tasks are assisting the service desk, handling escalated tickets, and performing the tasks required for small to medium size VoIP, IT and Low Voltage Projects. The IT Project Engineer should have a passion for providing great customer service, troubleshooting difficult technical problems, and architecting solutions with great attention to detail.

This role has responsibilities in each of the department’s listed below:

Service Desk
 Troubleshoot and resolve escalated tickets
 Create Knowledge Base articles on processes taken to resolve those tickets.
 Provide training to service desk team, when necessary, on how to resolve tickets,
 Fill in, as needed, in helping the Service Desk to troubleshoot tickets.

Sales Engineering
 Research and developing creative solutions to client’s needs
 Assisting in choosing new products
 Testing new software and hardware
 Evaluating Sale’s departments notes and inputting into Statement of Work
 Create materials list
 Create Scope of Work

 Assist Sales Manager in architecting solutions for customers.
 Aiding in the handover from the Sales Department
 Aiding in the creation of the Project Plan and documenting ways in improve the process
 Handling the technical aspects of onboarding and offboarding of customers and team members
 Scheduling and resource management
 Performing project tasks, such as provisioning, set-up, and installation of hardware
 Customer Communications
 On-Site Checkups
 Managing Change Orders
 Completion and Close-Out
 Ensure Correct Billing
 Handoff to Service Desk

Account Management
 Regularly review inventory and suggest replacement of End-of-Life hardware
 Inform clients of EOL/EOS software and recommend replacement
 Identify replacements or upgrades when needed

Procurement and Managing Inventory
 Helping to research products
 Assisting in placing orders
 Help to create purchase orders from charges in ticketing system (Autotask)
 Vendor follow-up when needed
 Received orders and stock in Autotask PSA tool
 Assign/pick inventory as it goes out
 Manage Software Licensing

Internal Process and Software Management
 Autotask PSA - managing workflows and other configuration
 Datto RMM - creating and managing automation, policies, and alerts
 IT Glue- manage and creating documentation
 Sentinel One- monitor for alerts, manage agents and update accordingly
 VoIP platform- build and maintain phone systems and configurations
 Sophos Cloud – add and update firewalls
 Unifi – update controller and firmware updates for devices
 UISP – update controller and firmware updates for devices
 Digi Remote Manager- firmware updates for devices
 Infima- review Phish test results and manage training process
 Digital Watchdog – manage access, licensing, and software updates

Technical Requirements:

  • 5+ years helpdesk/field-onsite technical support experience providing complete network to end point support services to small and medium sized businesses
  • Demonstrated understanding of data integrity, standard backup practices, and associated hardware/software solutions. Experience with Veeam and Acronis backups preferred
  • Windows Server (2008-2022) administration including spin-up, roll-out and management including Active Directory, GPOs, Trusts, Print Servers,
  • Application Servers, etc.
  • Maintain virtual environments such as Hyper-V, VMware, Veeam & Azure
  • Workstation operating systems e.g., MAC, Windows 7 and later
  • Workstation productivity/operations application administration e.g.,
  • Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, etc.
  • Network Security – Router/Firewall experience i.e. Cisco, Meraki, Sophos &
  • Unifi firewalls & wireless environments
  • Cloud Environment management e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Enterprise email systems e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Google Suite, etc.
  • Office 365 deployment and security

• Building, migrating & maintaining 0365 Azure AD & Intune: 2 years (Required)
• Desktop Support: 5 years (Required)
• Customer Service: 5 years (Required)
• Windows Server support: 5 years (Required)
• Onboarding & Deploying IT infrastructures: 2 years (Preferred)
• Firewall and Network Support: 5 years (Preferred)
• MSP (Managed Services Provider) Experience: 5 years (Preferred)
• Technical support in a production IT environment(s), preferably in multi-site environments: 5 years (Preferred)
• Mac, Autotask, Datto RMM, Sophos, Unifi, experience a plus

Miscellaneous Requirements:
• Must be available occasionally on nights and weekends to perform off-hour maintenance and projects
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and self-directed
• Ability to create knowledge base articles and update customer documentation
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Must pass a background check
