QA Automation Engineer II

JOB SUMMARY:

The Automation Engineer will be an important team member working on the Simpleview business intelligence reporting engine. The Automation Engineer develops and implements automated testing solutions with a focus to bring in testing efficiencies, lowering costs, and reducing cycle times. You will develop and maintain the test automation framework and work closely with the Product Manager, Engineering team lead, and internal stakeholders in an Agile environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All members of the Product organization must strive to exemplify Simpleview's employee guidelines and corporate values (Hard Work, Working Smart, People, Communications, and Environment).
• Learn and understand the functionality of Simpleview's Reporting Engine.
• Expand our existing test automation framework and test coverage.
• Develop new tests and tools for our products, backend APIs and services, and low-level systems like CI/CD, and load balancing.
• Work with the Product Management team and other developers to understand how new features should be tested, and then engage them in contributing automated tests.
• Work with engineers to define and implement mechanisms to inject testing earlier into the software development process.
• Configure automated tests to execute reliably, efficiently, and consistently across multiple database types and browsers.
• Identify functional and non-functional aspects of the system to be tested.
• Identify appropriate testing methodologies including functional, integration, end-to-end, etc.
• Create comprehensive and well-structured test plans.
• Refine and update automated tests as necessary.
• Conduct regression testing via test automation suite or manually if automation isn't available.
• Evaluate regression results and promptly reports any issues with the team.
• Conduct exploratory testing.
• Proactive participation in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
• Complete work within the agreed-upon timeframe and communicate any blockers as necessary.
• Contribute and maintain QA documentation for automated processes.
• Stay current with new testing tools and testing strategies.
• Represent Simpleview in a professional manner at external functions, networking events, and client demonstration meetings.
• Adhere to companies coding standards and development best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3+ years related QA experience in Agile development environments.
• Adept in Agile/Scrum development processes and methodologies.
• 3+ years in software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• 2+ years' experience with browser-based application testing.
• 2+ years' experience using test automation tools like Cyprus, Selenium, Playwright
• Solid working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Solid working knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL, Redshift, Big Query) including the ability to write basic queries.
• Skilled at writing GraphQL queries and mutations.
• Ability to work well with ambiguity or when requirements are still in flux.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

COMPENSATION:

• Compensation is a combination of salary plus commission.
