Job Description

Simple Technology Solutions (STS) is looking for a Cloud Automation Engineer to add to our team.

 

Quick overview:

  • This position is currently full-time-Remote until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. After that time, work may be on-site, 3 days per week in Washington, DC
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain required clearance 
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required (6 years of work experience in IT may be substituted for a degree)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in programming and analysis of complex information systems, applications, or operating system software

The role:

In this role, we are looking for someone to develop automated cloud governance solutions using serverless technologies and Python programming.  They will also assist in supporting cloud migrations, modernizations, and operations based on Agile methodologies. This person should have experience in all phases of the systems engineering life cycle (SELC), including initial design/analysis through deployment. The ideal candidate has great interpersonal skills and is comfortable and effective in acting as a liaison between multiple technology groups and representing groups in large-scale meetings. Additionally, the candidate has the ability to create and refine prototypes in a rapid development environment. To succeed in this role, one must have the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users.

The Cloud Automation Engineer at STS will:

  • Develop, test and deploy automated cloud governance solutions using serverless functions and Python programming
  • Apply expertise in software development to solve business issues
  • Create frameworks and tools for deployment and support of applications and services
  • Work with analysts and customers to derive requirements for use cases/scenarios
  • Determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints, and consult with engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software
  • Plan and assign work when acting in a lead role, determine designs, collect metrics on all associated development tasks, coding, debugging, creating documentation, conduct tests, and build applications on a predefined schedule
  • Produce and implement design specifications, documenting design modifications and unit testing results
  • Identify and work with strategic and technology partners to discover new product solutions
  • Plan, design, and program functionality to interface and use SQL Server or Oracle in coordination with the Database Administrator
  • Design, develop and maintain automated deployment processes and best practices for SharePoint solution deployments to multiple environments (features, WSPs, etc.)
  • Investigate, identify, resolve, and communicate complex code issues logged internally by the QA team and externally by our clients through Technical Support

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Proficiency to develop serverless cloud solutions using Python
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT discipline (6 years of work experience in IT may be substituted for a degree)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in  programming and analysis of complex information systems, application, or operating system software
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in one or more languages such as Python, JAVA, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, C#, .Net, AJAX, HTML, and SQL
  • Experience with most of the following:  Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS), Office 365 Services, SharePoint, Active Directory (AD), SQL Server Database Services
  • Experience with change management processes

Preferred

  • AWS Professional level certification(s)
  • Scrum Master Certification
