Job Description
 

Essential Function:

 Assist with quality planning, control and improvement for Silfex products.  Assure product delivered to customers meet product quality standards and specifications. The Quality Engineer will work with the manufacturing and engineering organizations to identify yield and scrap improvement opportunities and develop projects to improve.  The Quality Engineer will manage customer quality inquiries and Silfex response to assure a high level of customer satisfaction.  The Quality Engineer will be the voice of the customer within Silfex and assure Process of Record is rigorously maintained.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assure all work is performed in a safe manner compliant with all Silfex procedures and policies
  • Manage customer inquiries, escalations and improvement projects to minimize response time and provide high quality solutions and results
  • Work with a cross-functional team including Business Development, RPM, and Engineering to develop quality planning for new products
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to establish process data collection methodologies and define parameters to be monitored to ensure process integrity and maintain process control plans
  • Conduct and support periodic process audits to ensure processes are capable and stable 
  • Implement visual controls and error proofing of processes wherever possible
  • Support Process Engineers in developing process failure mode effect analysis (PFMEA) and control plans on new projects 
  • Develop and improve measurement methods to meet customer requirements
  • Lead gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) studies to reduce measurement error and meet requirements 
  • Generate new ideas or methods on how to significantly reduce defects found in operations 
  • Assure the development and maintenance of “Process of Record” (POR)/Copy Exact process control documents
  • Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate
  • Apply lean principles and participate in lean concepts, specifically 5s, value stream mapping, standard work, and mistake proofing 
  • Use structured problem solving techniques such as DOE, 8D and A3 in daily work
  • Analyze (JMP or Minitab) large data sets and communicate key points efficiently verbally and in presentations 
  • Assure continuous improvement in every aspect of responsibilities

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • BSME, BSEE, BSIE or similar technical BS degree and 1-2 years of progressive experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing facility desired
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and statistical analysis using software such as Minitab and JMP
  • Experience developing control plans and procedures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications 
  • Knowledgeable of   Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in use Lean techniques in a Lean manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools and methods utilized for manufacturing processes
  • Must be able to effectively interact with people within the organization and outside organizations
  • Must be able to use computer systems, (Ex. MS Word, MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Able to demonstrate analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black or Green belt, or Lean Bronze Certified preferred.
  • Experience in the Semiconductor industry and experience with Copy Exact principals a plus

 The employee regularly is required to lift up to 10 pounds.  The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the environment is moderate.
