Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

Signode Industrial Group is seeking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor at its manufacturing facility in East Providence, RI. The successful candidate must have a “safety-first” mindset, be a self-motivated, technical professional supervising the maintenance team to support the maintenance of all production equipment. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and repair of a wide range of industrial equipment, and for the installation of mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure that the plant and equipment are maintained at the highest performance level and will strive to minimize cost, energy usage, and waste in accordance with corporate policies and health and safety regulations. This individual will possess excellent interpersonal skills and will interact and function effectively as an integral part of the Safety, Production, Quality, and Maintenance team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure high standards of safety are developed, met and maintained
  • Arrange, conduct and coordinate the internal safety inspections and follow up with deficiencies and recommendations
  • Ensure facilities and grounds are maintained in accordance with relevant regulations, agency standards, and fiscal consideration
  • Develop, implement, and review regularly site-specific maintenance logs
  • Evaluate long-term needs in relation major projects and property improvement
  • Coordinate, arrange and supervise the completion of corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with agency operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations
  • Ensure major equipment and furnishings are maintained in safe, operable condition and/or arrange for placement
  • Establish procedures and contacts to ensure timely repairs of equipment requiring motor repairs on a frequent basis
  • Secure major equipment bids and makes recommendations for purchase when replacement or new equipment is equipment
  • Provide staff training in a variety or safety and maintenance topics including: effective utilization of maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to the facility, equipment operations, multimedia safety training
  • Development of policies and procedures related to maintenance and safety
  • Participate in annual budget preparation as it relates to the safety and maintenance of facilities, grounds and equipment
  • Develop and maintain a formal Preventative Maintenance program for all major equipment or as specified by the Plant Manager
  • Manages all labor costs and determines whether work is to be completed in-house or out-sourced; while keeping in mind the overall competencies of the plant maintenance staff
  • Initiate the purchase of all repairs and maintenance components, including outsourced fabrication and contract labor
  • Maintains appropriate replacement and repair parts including accurate inventories

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of building and facility systems including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Compressed Air, Boiler, Power, Lighting and Security
  • Thorough understanding of plant machinery and equipment including corrugators, formers, notchers, bailers, saws.
  • Strong ability to prioritize in a quickly changing environment
  • Ability to motivate team efforts in order to accomplish goals
  • Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience

  • Two years experience in all phases of building maintenance
  • Experience in estimating maintenance and repair costs

Preferred Experience

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Industrial Electrician experience is preferred
