We are looking for someone who has the skills to be a Scribe/Medical Assistant to join our dedicated and knowledgeable Pain Management team. We are looking for someone who is an accredited Medical Assistant and is able to help keep our patients comfortable while gathering the information needed from them during each visit. While scribing, the Medical Assistant will assist the physician by documenting patient history and following up with activities to increase the quality of patient care. Requires CPR certification, ability to follow legal guidelines for documentation, and one year of medical terminology experience in a clinical setting (or equivalent education). A phlebotomy certificate is preferred but not required. The position will require proficiency with medical practice systems and Microsoft office applications.

What’s required?

  • Minimum: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Minimum: Phlebotomy certificate.

  • Minimum: Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers” (AHA) or “CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer” (American Red Cross).

  • Minimum: 12 months' experience in a medical practice

  • Prior authorization experience preferred

  • High level of computer literacy with keyboard skills.

  • Ability to type at least 60 WPM

  • Ability to multi-task and consistently communicate in a professional manner.

  • Proficient with practice management software and all Microsoft Office programs.

  • Working knowledge of managed care basics, Medicare and Worker’s Comp insurance.

  • Ability to create a comfortable relationship with patients.

Duties of the position:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to document patient care as dictated by a physician in an effective and clear manner, following all local, state, and federal guidelines for documentation.

  • Assist Physician/APN/PA during clinic to run efficiently, keeping on time.

  • Clean or stock rooms.

  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing HIPAA regulations.

  • Answer all non-medical, non-emergent patient calls (Limit during clinic hours to be available to assist provider and patients while in clinic).

  • Order medication refills as instructed by your MD/APN/PA through pharmacy or ERX.

  • Read all charts after transcription is completed.

  • Review a task is created if indicated, create tasks as needed.

  • Complete disability forms within 10 days of receipt.

  • Handle patient concerns w/compassion and patience.

  • Review patient questions w/physician/APN and call patients back.

  • Obtain new imaging prior to patient appointments.

  • Review films/tests results w/physician, follow up w/appt or contacting the patient.

  • Document in chart pertinent information per patient contacts.

  • Reschedule clinic as needed.
