Job Description

 

The Floral & Gift Baskets Counter Clerk is asked to smile, greet and be courteous to customers. It is also expected that the clerk works with management and all other Team Members to provide a high level of customer service and be a positive influence in the customer experience. In this role it is important to be punctual, work your schedule, conduct yourself in a professional business manner at all times, assist in any way possible and as directed, provide for a clean and safe store environment,  and help fulfill other duties as assigned. In addition, the Team Member will help deliver information regarding sales, store promotions, events, and more. Lastly, the Floral & Gift Baskets Clerk must maintain and operate the Floral Department in an efficient manner within Company Policy. Ensure that the shift contributes to the financial best interests of the store.

 

The following are role and responsibilities of the Floral & Gift Baskets Clerk position:

 

Department Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and highly friendly, courteous service or assistance.

  • Confer with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about products or services, take or enter orders, cancel orders if needed, or obtain details of complaints.

  • Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems.

  • Use the sense of artistry and knowledge of different types of flowers to choose the appropriate flowers for each occasion. It is important to know what flowers are in season and when they will be available.

  • Assist with the creation of Gift Baskets flyers, promotions, and deals for year around, holidays, and special sales.

  • Package, wrap, weigh, stamp, mark and accurately price and label merchandise for retail sale.

  • Receive loads while keeping an eye out for freshness and conditions of products

  • Build visually attractive displays, rotate and replenish stock as needed, and maintain accurate department signage and pricing.

  • Familiarize self with different cheeses, breads, pastries, bakery items, produce, gift & housewares and all other products in the store and recognize differences among similar products e.g. type, region, production and pairing information to better assist customers.

  • Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise.  Check and verify receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered.  Check products for quality, count, and condition.         

  • Open cartons and price, display, store or process product according to established Procedures and Policies.

  • Keep Floral Department Manager informed of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems.

  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company Policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.

  • Assist customers with floral and accessory product selection and design floral and plant product based on customer needs

  • Take an active role in maintaining and developing existing and new customer relationships, including following up as needed to ensure complete satisfaction.

  • Contribute to the consistent maintenance of product merchandising, and participate in daily set up and break down of store.

  • Attract potential customers by answering product and service questions; suggesting information about other products and services.

  • Create positive customer relationships by proactively managing customer interactions using tact, courtesy, patience and diplomacy.
