Environmental Technician or Specialist

Location: Stillwater Mine - Nye, MT

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work across Nye mine site, Hertzler Ranch, and Benbow areas on day-to-day operations of water treatment plants, groundwater injection network, groundwater pump back system, irrigation pivots, and percolation ponds
• Run as-needed projects, as such contractor oversight of pressure washing stormwater culverts, pond cleanout
• Collect water and soil samples
• Conduct area inspections which may include waste management; stormwater; spill prevention; air quality; and safety
• Assist with spill cleanups and management
• Prepare documents associated with sampling and assist with management and communication of sampling and analytical results
• Work to be done on days (no night shifts) on crew schedule: five days on/off, and four days on/off. Will include weekend and holiday work.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Ability to work effectively as a team or alone with minimal supervision
• Ability to work independently to operate, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and pipelines
• Work conducted mostly in the field, occasionally in adverse conditions (raining, snowing, blowing, etc.)
• Positive attitude and ability to adapt to changing conditions
• Attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Water treatment experience
• Mine site experience
• Mechanical ability, especially with pumps and pipelines
• Familiarity with basic computer programs (Microsoft Office)
