Under minimal supervision of the Corporate Quality Manager, provides Quality Engineering services, support and technical assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Service, and Plant Quality. Plans, develops, implements, and maintains quality standards for Shure products. Ensures that quality standards and requirements are met. May assist with the development of lower-level Quality Engineers
+ Develops and implements quality assurance protocols and methods used to test and validate finished products, sub-assemblies, and components.
+ Provide technical assistance in the development and implementation of robust design, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer service processes to meet and exceed customer expectations.
+ Represents Corporate Quality Engineering by actively participating on new product development (Blue Ribbon), maintenance of line (MOL), advanced development, and/or special teams.
+ Ensures that all new products are in compliance with both Shure quality standards and applicable government regulations by facilitating risk identification and mitigation (DFMEA) and performing new product evaluation testing.
+ Monitors and analyses product quality performance throughout the product's effective life to identify potential issues and drive preventive issue resolution. Uses this data to influence current and future design robustness and reliability.
+ Company's subject matter expert in structured problem solving. Leads multi-functional teams in the root cause analysis and identification of non-conforming product and process/system deficiencies, and drives the implementation of corrective actions when necessary.
+ Develops new product development quality test plan and quality assurance strategy. By understanding customer use, historical performance of similar products, and performing competitive analysis.
+ Generates Request for Test and Measurement (RFTM), Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) reports, and Product Audit services
+ Conducts research / analysis to evaluate established quality standards and procedures to ensure their effectiveness and that they are optimized.
+ Leads implementation of quality tools and techniques across the corporation to assure ongoing process and product performance, including analysis of ongoing process capabilities, and continuous process and quality improvement initiatives.
+ Drives quality assurance initiatives to achieve exceptional product quality and reliability with focus on manufacturing process capabilities and product specifications / requirements.
+ Assists in the development of less experienced engineers by mentoring and building their technical capabilities, knowledge, and skills.
+ Act as a quality consultant to the Shure plants by providing training, guidance, and support on the use of quality principles, tools, and methodologies.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering. Graduate coursework is desirable.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer with wide-ranging experience using quality tools such as, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R).
+ ASQ Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), and/or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is strongly preferred.
+ Five years of solid experience with the practical use of problem solving techniques.
+ Experience in the basic use of audio, acoustical, and RF principles is preferred.
+ Maintains a full understanding of industry practices, i.e. supplier partnerships, total quality concepts, ISO 9000, Lean Manufacturing Methods, etc.
+ Able to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data or situations requires evaluation of identifiable factors
+ Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for difficult assignments and of diverse scope.
