Afterschool Teaching Position (Asst. Director / Teacher):
Steam STATION is a STEAM focused afterschool located in Santa Clara. Our vision is to provide high quality Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math education to our students. We provide school pickups, enrichment activities, HW help, STEAM classes and more. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, engaging, organized, and affectionate afterschool teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year.
We are partnered with Tulip Afterschool.
Must be available between 11:30 PM and 6:30 PM on all weekdays.
Must be comfortable teaching and tutoring students from Pre-K to 5th grade including HW help, science fair project help, and other academic help.
Must be comfortable teaching curriculum/ lessons that are provided and must possess the ability to make it engaging for students.
Must be able to create quick lessons with short notice and must come with a repertoire of filler activities to keep students creatively engaged.
Must be willing to serve snack for students including fresh fruit.
Must always maintain a clean and organized work area. Must be willing to help keep the center clean and organized in general.
Must communicate student goals and progress to parents and admin using a friendly and inclusive tone on a regular basis.
Must be willing to utilize a collaborative, problem-solving approach while working with peers and admin.
Must be timely and flexible.
Must believe in our organization’s mission and must support admin to foster student growth.
Must always be inclusive and equitable and willing to serve students and work with teachers from diverse backgrounds with a relationship building mindset.
Must be open to modifying teaching practice and methodology to support organization’s culture.
Must be willing to support organization by taking on supporting roles as necessary (e.g. some office work, entering data, front door etc.) should the need arise.
Must be willing to provide a list for snacks required for the next week to management.
Must be willing to coordinate schedules of other student teachers and enrichment teachers and communicate to management on a regular basis.
Any college degree or currently enrolled in college. Teaching (specifically SPED focused) / Education / STEM degree preferred.
Willingness and ability to drive a minivan with 5 kids is a plus but not required.
Some teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Must be open to getting a criminal background check.
