Summary of Position:
The Deputy Director of Programs (DDP) will serve as a critical member of Shelter House's Executive Management Team. The DDP is responsible for overseeing the agency's programs and related services; evaluating the effectiveness of programs to provide ongoing feedback; providing coaching, guidance, supervision, and professional development to all leadership staff; and enhancing the impact of the organization by staying abreast of best practices in domestic violence and homelessness. The DDP will also engage the Board of Directors under the direction of the ED & CEO.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise 3 Senior Directors and the Director of Data Analytics and Insights. Provide coaching and guidance in support of the agency's programs and services, support professional development of the agency's leaders, and provide assistance and expertise to improve and enhance programs and services. Support senior staff in addressing high risk cases that have escalated past the program level.
- Maintain current knowledge of issues impacting homelessness and domestic violence. Ensure implementation of best practices (such as rapid re-housing, permanent supportive housing, trauma informed care, harm reduction etc.) by ensuring quality training is consistently offered to all program staff.
- Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, grants, contracts and related services. Promote collaborative relationships between program areas and ensure that the expectations of funders, partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met.
- Oversee the agency's data program. In coordination with the Data Quality Team, evaluate program performance by analyzing and interpreting data, metrics, and other statistical information to ensure that desired outcomes are being achieved. Ensure the delivery of qualitative and quantitative goals and outcomes of programs and services. Additionally ensuring program outcomes are regularly communicated to both programs and the CEO in usable form to promote excellence and data informed decision-making processes.
- In coordination with the Executive Management Team, play a key role in the overall development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management of the organization across multiple sites and departments.
- Coordinate with the People & Culture Leader to handle high level employee relations issues.
- Coordinate with the Chief Executive Strategist identify and create leadership and professional development opportunities for Shelter House staff.
- Coordinate with the Chief Executive Strategist to identify efficiencies in process and program management.
- Work closely with the Finance department to provide recommendations and assistance in drafting program and contract budgets, requesting budget amendments, and ensuring compliance with spending regulations. With Senior Directors, ensure sound fiscal and system management as it pertains to program spending.
- Under the advisement of the Board of Directors and in partnership with the ED/CEO and Chief Executive Strategist, implement Shelter House's strategic plan, as well as develop and implement new initiatives that reflect the organization's mission.
- Serve as Shelter House's key executive to government agencies such as the Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness, Loudoun County DFS, HUD, Virginia DHCD, Virginia Dept of Criminal Justice Services, etc.
- Provide support in the grant writing and submissions.
- Represent Shelter House on relevant committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels and training.
- Monitor emerging needs among key stakeholders such as clients, government, & philanthropy.

Qualifications:
Required:
- A minimum of five years leadership experience in a nonprofit, government, or philanthropy, overseeing multiple programs or contracts ideally at an organization serving low-income communities.
- Experience with conflict management and conflict resolution across levels and teams
- Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Program Management, etc.
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- A bachelor's degree in human services/ related field or commensurate experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
Preferred:
- A master's degree in human services/ related field
- Experience leading/ supporting programs serving homeless families and victims of domestic violence/sexual violence
- Experience with Microsoft applications
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
