Machine Operator - Manufacturing

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the set-up and operation of a Meltblown production line in accordance to customer specification and under direction of the team lead and or manager. The Meltblown Operator is also responsible for adhering to the safety procedures for machine operation.

DUTIES:

• Operation of the sheeter/stacker/packaging portion of the meltblown production line

• Production of finished goods in the meltblown work center

• Material handling of raw materials and finished goods

• Operation of meltblown production equipment from the resin feeding system through the bale packaging

• Accessing quality specs and special instructions on orders

• Performing quality checks and collecting quality data as needed

• Housekeeping and clean up of work area

• Perform other production related duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Must be able to read, write and understand English to read and comprehend set up sheets, SOP’s, etc.,

• Possess basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.

• Must have some experience working in a manufacturing or light manufacturing environment; experience working in a continuous manufacturing facility is a plus.

• Preference given to those with experience working in a nonwovens, fibers, or other plastics

• Extrusion experience a plus

• Knowledge of machine operation and a team production concept

• Able to work well with others

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion with assistance

• Some overhead lifting of approximately 20 lbs. required

• Must be able to operate office equipment such as a personal computer and printer

• Must be willing to work overtime when necessary

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must wear safety glasses and steel toe safety shoes at all times.

• Must utilize safe lifting techniques.

• Must follow Shawmut’s general safety regulations.

• Must follow machine safety instructions.
