This position supports the SMH Imaging Manager and the SMH Respiratory Care Manager. It also serves as the Dosimetry Coordinator for SMH Radiation Safety and is responsible for badging staff and physicians within 15 areas of the Sharp Metro Medical Campus.
Administrative Secretary performs administrative secretarial assignments under minimal supervision. Composes correspondence, memos, presentations, flyers, spreadsheets, and other documents as requested. Drafts complex documents from abstract ideas and general information. Proficient in the use of computer applications to complete documents/work assignments, i.e., Word, Visio, Excel. Reviews and edits materials as requested. Navigates the Sharp Intranet site. Responsible for independently coordinating calendar of Director of Pulmonary, Cardiac & Imaging Services based on priorities expressed by the Director. Schedules meetings and related resources, i.e., room, AV, Catering, etc.), and confirms participants when indicated
Responsible for badging staff and physicians within 15 areas of Sharp Memorial Hospital and Outpatient Pavilion and the P.E.T. Coach (approximately 400 badges). Maintain Radiation Safety Orientation binder ensuring all badged staff have completed radiation safety testing. Order all badges and discontinue use when no longer needed. Ensure all appropriate paperwork is completed and signed by Radiation Safety Officer on pregnant employees and that a fetal badge is ordered for monitoring the baby.
Coordinate exchange of badges on a monthly and quarterly basis. Ensure dosimetry reports are signed by Medical Physicist and sent to each department as they arrive monthly/quarterly. Generates Level 1 and Level 2 exposure memos as requested by Medical Physicist.

This position is located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego County.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with all customers in a tactful and diplomatic manner
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize appropriately and act independently. Self-directed
  • Experience in Office 2000 and GroupWise
  • Understanding of basic budgeting and bookkeeping principals
  • Medical terminology
  • Three to five years experience in a health care related field working with administrative level personnel
High School graduate or equivalent preferred *
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Some clinical knowledge particularly in the areas of pulmonology, cardiology and imaging, and radiation safety.
  • Prefer clinical experience or knowledge.
