SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Nursing is responsible for providing behavioral health counseling and administering medically supervised care to clients within the detox protocols and treatment model. The position directs the activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of Shadow Mountain Recovery. This position will be involved with development and implementation of medical and clinical policies, establishing workflows, staffing to scope of practice, and teaching clinical practice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, outcome identification, and treatment follow-up in an outpatient clinic or acute care setting. Integrate education, research, management, leadership, and consultation into medical and clinical roles.

2. Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

3. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

4. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives, as well as scheduling of nursing and relevant clinical support staff.

5. Provides compassionate support through all process phases of detoxification and treatment process.

6. Maintain and service relevant medical care equipment, utilizing appropriate service logs for compliance.

7. Keep abreast of medical and pharmaceutical developments as it affects patient care.

8. Educates and trains staff in all accreditation, Federal and State regulations, billing codes, and the required appropriate documentation resulting in minimal administrative revisions or loss of revenue.

9. Orients supervisees to company policies, treatment protocols, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements in a manner that ensures they fully understand all content.

10. Attends clinical meetings as scheduled, and attends and participates in co-facilitating group therapy sessions as required.

11. Completes required documentation accurately and participates in the continued development of policies, procedures, client education, and staff education materials.

12. Utilizes knowledge of medical and clinical diagnostic methods and principles to assess client’s status and acute needs.

13. Provides crisis intervention, when needed, based on proven and researched intervention approaches.

14. Develops and maintains awareness, readiness, and delivery of contemporary acute and post acute care within detoxification and treatment process, to include evidenced based practices for care, implementation of techniques, and research.

15. Maintains the client record through meeting all timelines regarding record entries and treatment record requirements

16. Willingness to participate in requirements as outlined by The Joint Commission and under the guidance and direction of the Supervisory Team.

17. Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date, and current through sixty days of hire

18. Competency in the management of medically critical patient situations.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.

2. Minimum of 5 years acute care nursing experience in the identified area of expertise preferred.

3. Knowledge of the effect of physical illness on the presentation of psychiatric behaviors.

4. Active New Mexico Nursing license via the New Mexico Board of Nursing.

5. Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with CMS, Medicare and Medicaid.

6. Eligible to provide services with no sanctions or exclusions from either the Health and Human Services/Office of Inspector General (HHS/OIG) Cumulative Sanction Report or the General Services Administration's (GSA) List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs.
