Job Description

SeKON is looking for a Network Engineer to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Due to COVID-19, this will be a work-from-home position for the foreseeable future. The mission lifecycle of DHA is to deploy the largest global electronic health record system across the entire Department of Defense (DoD) community. We're looking for a strong candidate to support the deployment of this critical system to our military community

  • Leverages senior-level network expertise and experience to ensure network connections are properly planned, documented, setup, and tested through coordination with all stakeholder teams.
  • Provides in-depth analysis and recommended Courses of Actions (CoA) for resolution of complex technology and performance problems.
  • Prepares and communicates effectively using both oral and written methods to all levels of a highly visible government agency including executive project.
  • Manage timely resolution of critical and/or complex technical problems within multiple IT platforms and network enclaves.
  • Coordinate with other engineering professionals to provide Enterprise Service technical implementation support in a broad area of technology including network routing for multiple client configurations, ACLs, and firewall rules.
  • Identify business and technical risks, gaps, and opportunities effecting the implementation lifecycle.
  • Validation of technical requirements, system integration, and system interface to include interpretation of documentation and change management requirements.
  • Work multiple site deployment projects and teams concurrently within deadlines while ensuring that complex information is conveyed in a clear, accurate, and concise manner under normal and in crises.



  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years recent experience with Defense Health Agency (DHA) network implementations and operations.
  • Must have hands on experience with the DHA Remedy change management system.
  • Must have hands on experience with DHA-specific Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS) development and source/destination mapping.
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following industry competencies; Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSE (Solution Engineer), ISC2 SSCP OR combination of COMPTIA Network + and Security +
  • Experience with the project management lifecycle to include interfacing with senior level government customers
  • Experience in preparation for system deployment and post deployment transition to assist other system engineers in troubleshooting network issues. 
  • Must have superior verbal and written communication and customer service skills as well as experience building partnerships with teammates, customers and other vendors
  • Skill in the use of various types of office automation to include Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Project and Access)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with customers and program office members in a multi-vendor environment

Desired Skills: 

  • Special consideration for:
    • Experience in DoD Healthcare IT and/or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
    • Experience deploying/delivering enterprise EHR products such as Cerner and/or EPIC.
  • Hands on experience with Defense Health Agency Med-COI implementation and operations.
  • Experience with performance interpretation, analysis, and reporting using infrastructure and application monitoring platforms such as Splunk and Check MK.
  • Working and/or Advanced Knowledge of:
    • DoD and/or NIST 800 series Cyber Security
    • Best practices such as ISO, CMMI, Lean Six Sigma, and agile scrum
    • Enterprise Management System(s) capabilities such as SCCM, MS Server (2008/2012), MS Active Directory, Citrix, VMWare, Palo Alto, Cisco, NetApp, Oracle, Fidelis, HADOOP, TwistLock, AWS Micro Container Services
  • System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Requirements, use cases, release management, testing, risk management, change management, and configuration management experience
