Staff Accountant

Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to be a key member of the financial accounting organization, whose main purpose is ensure the primary financial statements income statement, balance sheet and cash flow – are accurately reflecting the results of the company and are published in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

§ Process daily cash receipts – timely and accurately apply incoming cash to customer accounts.

§ Maintain the Company’s fixed asset systems. Record monthly depreciation, asset additions and disposals.

§ Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns for approximately 10 states.

§ Report daily on the Company’s cash position – reconcile checks within the Company’s ERP system and report daily available cash balance to the Controller.

§ Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.

§ Prepare month end journal entries.

§ General accounting skills in corporate-level accounting and reporting activities.

§ Support the annual financial audit and quarterly bank field examination process with external audit teams.

§ Perform special projects (i.e. ERP implementation) and studies on accounting and control matters as requested.

§ Every position within the finance team have a clear, uncompromising responsibility to ensure internal controls and business policies are followed.

§ Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

§ Effective oral and written communication skills.

§ Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills.

§ Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.

§ Proficient in office computer software use (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

§ Excellent time management skills.

§ Handle multiple projects with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience:

Accounting degree and 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employees are regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions:

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available
