Security Officers, Per Diem Opportunities

This position is dual purpose ~ acts as point person for events and program logistics and as a security officer in our older adult community. Read on for more information about this diverse role!

PURPOSE:    Serves as the point person for daily event/program logistics at Seabury, including room set-up, break-down, requested audio-visual equipment and other operational support at Seabury. Provides essential support for Seabury hospitality relating to residents and visitors.  Responds to day-to-day technical support requests from Seabury residents, including issues with computers, printers, wireless devices, phones (cell and landline) and cable services. 

The primary purpose of the Security Officer role is to secure and protect the Seabury community within a resident-centered model. Work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by Seabury. Work is performed safely, efficiently and professionally to high ethical standards. All work occurs in accordance with Seabury’s vision, operating mission and standards of service.


•    High School diploma or equivalency 

•    Overall strong technical knowledge of audio visual equipment, computer hardware and software, and contemporary electronic devices of all sorts

•    Valid Connecticut State Security Officer Certification

•    Valid motor vehicle operator’s license

Skills and Competencies:

•    Organizational skills to manage time well, prioritize tasks,  and work independently

•    Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve

•    Physical strength to handle room event/program set ups.

•    AV Technical knowledge and aptitude in audio visual matters and equipment  

•    Knowledge of personal technology equipment and how to set up and instruct others in its use. 

•    Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED training or ability to successfully complete such training 

•    Respond to emergency situations in a calm, appropriate manner

•    Be able to walk significant distances, climb stairs and respond rapidly to emergency situations

•    Understand and follow standard and emergency operating procedures

•    Use portable radio and telephone in a clear manner

•    Use technology as assigned, including computers, CCTV

•    equipment, access control systems, and others

•    Understand, follow and enforce requirements of safety inspections

•    Understand, follow and enforce federal, state, local and Seabury rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to security and fire safety

•    Perform lifting tasks with/without assistance

•    Read, write and communicate effectively in English

•    Good oral and interpersonal communication skills

•    Perform duties in a team environment


•    Manage set ups and break downs as outlined on function forms in a timely fashion

•    Oversee audio visual equipment and setups on a daily basis and trouble shoot as needed                                                                                                                                                                                    

•    Maintain the medical response bags and inventory of emergency medical response supplies and oxygen tanks

•    Follow all applicable statutes, regulations and procedures for the clean-up and disposition of hazardous medical waste during an emergency medical response incident

•    Report identified deficiencies in resident medical files and records to appropriate department supervisors

•    Respond to and investigate all fire alarms, disasters or other emergency incidents and provides necessary support

•    Respond to and investigate all personal and emergency aid alarms

•    Respond to all medical assist calls and act according to the specific needs as trained 

•    Respond to and assist in any shelter-in-place or evacuation order

•    Control access to the facility through an established access control management system to assess those with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility, including residents, employees, visitors, resident guests, vendors and contractors

•    Patrol property and site buildings regularly, checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security risks, mechanical problems and unauthorized persons

•    Respond to general calls for service 

•    Observe and report incidents or suspicious activity to supervisor and/or appropriate Seabury management

•    Prepare logs, reports and other security documents as required/assigned

•    Manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic direction and control as needed

•    Help to maintain all departmental supplies and equipment in optimum operational condition and make recommendations for repair/replacement as needed

•    Follow all Seabury safety and sanitation standards

•    Identify safety hazards and either takes corrective action or reports necessary corrective action to appropriate Seabury personnel

•    Maintain confidentiality of persons served, employer, staff and Seabury information

•    Act within the scope of his/her role and job classification

•    Maintain knowledge of Seabury and departmental emergency operations plans, standard operational procedures, departmental directives and orders

•    Attend and participates in required training

•    Ensure the Connecticut Security Officer Certification remains current

•    Perform any other duties as assigned or required 

•    Provide coverage for the main desk up to but not limited to 2-4 hours per week

•    Provide technical support for Seabury residents requesting assistance via work order with: Landline phone service, including answering machines; Cable television service, including remote controls; Internet connectivity that is not Seabury wireless
