Pharmacy Technician for the FCI Tallahassee, (501 Capital Circle NE), for 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday for 6 hours per day. You will receive Health benefits, vacation and 10 paid Holidays. Hourly salary is $14.07
All duties will be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Pharmacy. The contractor will adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Federal Bureau of Prisons Healthcare Services and the American Correctional Association Standards/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions, as well as Federal and State policies and regulations. The perspective contractor will assist the Pharmacist in filling and preparing prescription daily for the inmates on sick call, A&O physicals and any specialty clinic or chronic care clinic as required for the inmate population at the FCI/FDC Tallahassee, Florida. The Pharmacy Technician Services provided by the company will include the following:
a. Interpreting medical/dental staff prescription orders. These orders may be the traditional physical prescription or orders taken from entries of the patient's electronic medical file.
b. Entering prescriptions into the pharmacy's prescription computer system and printing prescription labels;
c. Selecting the correct medication and filling the prescriptions;
d. Inventorying medications and supplies, recording items that are low in stocking levels, and advising the Health Services Administrator and/or Assistant Health Services Administrator of medications that need ordering;
e. Interacting with inmates regarding their medications and providing patient education about the medication and;
f. Assisting the medical staff and pharmacist with filling and preparing daily prescriptions for the inmate population at the FCI and FDC. Will on a routine basis run the daily pill line and dispense medication as ordered and directed.
g. Ensure that all drugs and supplies are stored according to manufactures recommendations, i.e. , refrigeration or protection from heat and light.
h. Address any questions and concerns with the Chief Pharmacist.
i.Ensure inmate medication profile is current and update.
j. Ensure the appropriate sanitation is maintained within the pharmacy.
k. Heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and the climbing of stairs will be required in the performance of duties.
l. Other duties as assigned.
