We are recruiting for the following position(s):
Peer Counselor - Posting #20675: Full-Time position available for our Tacoma Behavioral Health Department in Aberdeen. The Peer Counselor is responsible for providing support, education, and resource services to clients and families in the Intensive Mental Health Program; at Sea Mar sites, in client homes, and in the community. This position requires travel within the community. A valid WA Driver's License and a reliable vehicle is required.
The Peer Counselor under supervision, will support individuals by providing hope and encouragement to develop self-determination and a connection to the community. The Peer Counselor will also assist the person receiving agency services to build skills as an advocate for their own needs and rights.
- GED, High school diploma, or equivalent
- Current certification in a WA State approved Peer Support Specialist Training
- Have or been previously diagnosed with a mental illness and be a current or former client of mental health services
- Be willing to receive training and maintain CPR & First Aid Certification
- Knowledge and experience working with children and families preferred
- WA State Driver's License
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required
