Legal Secretary/Assistant

Successful job applicants will be able to perform these functions:

  • Provide assistance to the attorneys by performing tasks such as research, bates labeling, flag documents, organize and index case files, filing, determine and calendar deadlines and prepare documents.

  • Obtain legal documents from various Courts and databases.

  • Gather and organize exhibits, documents and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgment, etc.

  • Assist in preparation of various legal documents.

  • Maintain organized files related to current and closed legal matters.

  • Assist with court filings and service.

  • Draft correspondence as requested.

  • Prepare legal billing, including electronic billing, and time entry.


  • 3+ years of previous experience in a Legal Secretarial or Paralegal role

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Knowledge of basic legal terminology

  • Ability to read, respond timely/accurately to and organize a high volume of emails

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks

  • Good organizational skills including filing and calendaring

  • Ability to operate a personal computer and other equipment in the office

  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Juris or similar billing software

  • Good typing speed with few errors

  • Excellent proofreading skills

  • Time management skills and ability to work independently as well as with a team
