Purpose:

As a Data Engineer within CIDA’s Data Engineering and Architecture team, you will join the team and to help design, build, and maintain our data solutions. You will be responsible for tools and technologies that bring the bank’s data together. If you are passionate about data, engineering, and great user experience then this role is for you. 

 
What we expect of you:

•    Design and build data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from a variety of sources, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and streaming data sources, while ensuring data quality and consistency
•    Implement and maintain data storage solutions, including data lakes and data warehouses, and ensure data security and privacy
•    Integrate data from different sources and ensure data quality and consistency
•    Collaborate with data scientists and data analysts to support the data needs of the business, and provide guidance and support to ensure data accuracy and integrity
•    Write and maintain documentation for data infrastructure and processes, and provide training and support to other team members
•    Monitor and optimize data pipelines and storage solutions to ensure performance and scalability
•    Develop and implement best practices for data management and governance
•    Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in data engineering and data management

 
Areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

•    Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
•    Strong programming skills (Python or Java)
•    Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
•    Experience with data pipelines and data storage technologies (Spark, Hadoop, and SQL)
Familiarity with data modeling and ETL design principles
•    Strong problem-solving and communication skills
•    Familiarity with software development lifecycle and Agile development
